April 2020 Thankful Thursday Week 1

Hello and happy Thursday. It might not feel like it but it’s been a while since I sat down and looked back on the things that made me happy two years ago. I finally have the time, and what’s more important, the right mindset to think about happy things.

Now, let’s remember that 2018 was a rough year for me, or at least, it was the buildup to a generally bad time in my life, so many of the things that I said made me happy then might not make me happy now. Today’s random happy thought is weird, and you’ll see why.

April 2nd, 2018: Getting tattoos makes me happy.

Remember those “bad tattoo” posts I published a while back? Yes, on April 2nd, 2018, when I was on the verge of an existential crisis, I got two tattoos, one of which was misspelled and I have already covered up. Here’s some advice for everyone, okay? Listen up (or read up). The first thing that you should know is that tattoos are never “the solution” to anything. Seriously, it’s like the breakup haircut, only it’s permanent, and also, since you’re probably not feeling 100% you won’t notice that it’s probably ugly or, like in my case, misspelled. Now, attached to that, please do not consider switching tattoo artists if you do decide that what you need in your life is some ink. Going to a shop that is a few blocks away because it’s less of a hassle than going to your usual artist is a bad idea, trust me. Finally, and again, I know this from experience, having any number of tattoos will not prevent you from getting one that you might regret. I covered up part of my eleventh tattoo because I was convinced that what my life needed was more ink, and I wasn’t responsible about it. And guess who I went to see when it was time for a coverup? Of course, it was “my guy,” the one who’s been tattooing me since 2014. And he was so nice and nonjudgmental about it…that made me super happy.

What is one thing you’ve done that you thought would make you happy but didn’t? Let me know in the comments below.

Happy Thursday!

Hello and happy Thursday. I love to see that my Thankful Thursday posts are consistently being “liked” by you, and of course, that makes me want to continue looking back and writing them. One day a while ago I decided to look into my notebook of happy thoughts, pick random ones and talk about them with you, and now I continue to do that. Let’s see what made me happy two years ago today.

March 19th, 2018: Brunch with Dani makes me happy.

Dani is my best friend since fourth grade and if you knew her you’d wonder why we’re such good friends if we’re so different. I cannot give you a concrete reason other than we grew up together and the bond we share is deeper and stronger than our career paths and fashion choices. She is the Kate Hudson to my Anne Hathaway in Brides Wars although I am 150% sure we won’t be getting married the same day. She’s the person who keeps me sane and grounded, and honestly, any day that I can spend some time with her is a happy day in my book.

In the comments below tell me something about your best friend.

Happy Thursday!

Hello and happy Thursday. Today’s the day for looking into my recent past and discovering the things that made me happy on a given day. If you’re new to this blog or it’s your first time reading a “Thankful Thursday” post, every day for a few years now I sit down and write one thing that made me happy. I don’t provide any context about what I write, but I like keeping a record. What I do in this series called Thankful Thursday is go into those things I wrote and share a little bit about them. Right now we are exploring my happy thoughts of 2018, which was a tough year for me, and I’m glad I’m past everything that happened then.

March 12th, 2018: Buying new luggage makes me happy.

I remember this one vividly because I think for outside viewers it might look absurd but to me, it’s evidence of who I am. I was in Baltimore for the first time, trying to make it by myself for a week, and I had bought a shitton of stuff, which clearly didn’t fit in my suitcase. When I say “a shitton,” I mean I got the entire Harry Potter collection with the spines that together make the outline of Hogwarts for my best friend. So, naturally when a person buys the contents of a house, said person needs to buy a suitcase, right? Well, I bought a duffel bag that could fit an adult human comfortably. I haven’t tried fitting a person into it, but I’m pretty sure. That thing is so huge it looks like a tent, and I filled it to the brim with presents and souvenirs. As absurd as the story can sound, though, it’s not the first time and I’m sure it won’t be the last that I have to buy more luggage to store the stuff I’d been buying during my trip.

Do you buy a lot of stuff when you travel? Let me know in the comments below.

Happy Thursday!

Hello and happy Thursday. We have yet another month upon us. How are we feeling? Honestly, as I’m writing this, I feel like I’m finally on the path to getting my life where I want it, and I’m learning to enjoy the ride. Today we’ll go back to 2018, to March, when everything started changing for me, and though I didn’t know that yet, to the beginning of probably the toughest years of my life so far. Let’s get started, shall we?

March 5th, 2018: Getting attention makes me happy

Talk about being vague. I’m pretty sure I was referring to Mr. Huge Dick here and I would feel lame about it but I’m past that. I will say this, though: “getting attention” from someone shouldn’t make you happy because it isn’t a matter of you trying to get their attention and them giving it as if it were a gift. Either you have someone’s attention or you don’t. Either someone offers that attention or they don’t, and if they don’t, you don’t beg for it. That being said, I think this only applies to romantic/dating situations. If you’re a teacher, then get really happy when you have your students’ attention, cherish that moment, and don’t be greedy.

Do you seek attention? I know I do and I promise this is something I’ve been working on.

Happy Thursday!

Hello and happy Thursday. Today I was on my way to the bus stop when I got a text from the principal saying classes were canceled. I feel like for the sake of the new people reading this I must clarify that I’m a teacher, but I guess as excited as students when I don’t have to go to work. For me, staying at home is reason enough to be grateful, right? But that would probably make a super short post so let’s dive into my notebook of Happy Thoughts and let’s see what I was thankful for this day in 2018. Let’s get started, shall we?

February 27th, 2018: Orange cookies make me happy

You’ll see that there’s a common thing here regarding my happiness and food. What can I say, though? Food makes me happy, and by “food” I mean anything artificially sweet, made of flour or fried. Sadly, I don’t remember these particular cookies, but they were relevant enough that day to make it to the list.

Is there any food that makes you happy? Let me know in the comments below.

Happy Thursday!

Hello and happy Thursday. Today’s an odd day for me because we had some “friendship day” activities at school, which involved a lot of candy. Weirdly enough, I’m not hyper but I’m actually super tired and in need of a nap. The happy thought of the day is a little weird too because I didn’t follow the usual format, but I guess stepping out of routine is fine once in a while. Let’s get started, shall we?

February 201th, 2018: I’m happy when one of my wishes comes true.

I have no recollection of what I’d wished for this day, but I’m sad to announce it might have been related to MHD because he was an important topic back then for me. MHD was a guy I started talking to in January 2018 in preparation for my trip to Baltimore, and let’s just say, I wasted a lot of time with him. 2018 was a very weird year for me and I’m very glad that it’s now a part of the past that hopefully will never come back to haunt me.

Have you had a wish come true? Tell me about it in the comments below.

Happy Thursday!

Hello and happy Thursday. I woke up extra early today and felt super productive and ready to tackle my to-do list. I am most definitely a morning person and like to be done with all my responsibilities by 10am. I just wrote that part and spent the following then minutes on Instagram because one can’t be too productive, right? Anyway, let’s get started with today’s happy thought, shall we?

February 13th, 2018: Chocolate bread makes me happy.

I was referring to these massive chocolate croissants they’d give us at this school I used to work at. Besides being the size of your head, they were absolutely delicious and impossible to eat without becoming a walking mess. I’m telling you, you got chocolate smeared on your face and fingers, sugar all over your clothes, and of course, this was our midmorning snack on Fridays, when everybody had to wear a special fancy uniform because we had a flag-raising ceremony.  Let’s just say that when it was chocolate croissant day, we had to bring extra makeup and maybe wet wipes to clean the disaster. Totally worth it, though.

What’s a food that you love eating even though you always end up looking like you smeared it on your face instead of eating it? Let me know in the comments below.

Happy Thursday!
