Hello and happy Thursday. I got some good news yesterday and if/when I feel like I can tell you about them, I will. I’m happy to read your comments and to see that reading these posts makes your days a little brighter. I know that for me, looking back is always a nice time. I’m sure that what made me happy two years ago will at least get a smile from you.

June 4th, 2018: Being called beautiful makes me happy.

I mean, how can it not? I love to be complimented even though I’m kind of awkward and never really know what to say. I obviously like to be called beautiful but people I know, or non-threatening strangers. Ugh, I can’t believe I had to clarify that, but you know what I mean by that. I like girls telling me they like how I look and I like guys to do that too, if I know them and if I think they’re cute too. I like it when my family tells me that because they are pretty on board with my makeup addiction and they hype me up when I’m trying different looks. I don’t know. It’s a good thing, right?

What’s the best compliment someone can give you? Let me know in the comments below.

Happy Thursday!

Copy of Copy of THROWBACK THURSDAYHello and happy Thursday. How’s life? I’m back from spending a week at my mom’s house and I can’t wait for this school year to be over because. well, just because. I don’t know what I was thinking two years ago, but thankfully, I have a trusty old notebook that might so let’s go back in the past and see what 2018 Camila was thinking.

May 28th, 2018: Watching Full House again makes me happy.

I don’t know why I said “again,” but I imagine I took a break from binge-watching it and then went back to it. I thought the show was kind of stupid but it was funny and I enjoyed it for that. I don’t really think anybody was watching it for the story. That last episode, though…

Do you prefer Full House of Fuller House? Let me know in the comments below.

Happy Thursday!

Hello and happy Thursday. I know that because of a recent book review challenge I got some new followers and I want to say thank you and welcome. Mine is not only a reading blog but an “everything blog.” I talk about lifestyle stuff on Sundays, do makeup tutorials on Mondays, books on Wednesdays, the things that I’m grateful for on Thursdays, ARCs on Fridays, and teaching on Saturdays. Also in July, I blog every single day, or at least I try to.

Now that you know what my blog is about, let me tell you about this post series. Since 2016 I’ve kept these notebooks where I have written about things that have made me happy, so since the beginning of this series, I’ve been picking one of those random happy thoughts and I’ve talked about them.

May 21st, 2018: My dad’s birthday makes me happy.

I mean, should I explain it? It makes me happy, it just does. I like to see my dad get excited about all his presents and everyone paying attention to him and only him on that day. What else can I say?

Do you have any special traditions that take place on your parent’s birthday? Let me know in the comments below.

Happy Thursday!

Hello and happy Thursday. Now that not leaving home has become the new normal and not something people around you worry about because you might be depressed, I feel like my energy/productivity are at its highest on Thursdays because I don’t teach on Fridays, so it’s like my body knows this is the last day of the workweek for me. I do work on Fridays, but I don’t teach. I don’t know why I felt the need to defend myself on that one, but oh well. Let’s see how I was doing two years ago.

May 14th, 2014: Late afternoon showers make me happy.

I mean, yes and no. I don’t like to spend all day without showering (if I can help it) because it makes me feel dirty. If for some reason the shower is broken, I’ll use baby wipes and change into clean clothes. Anything to feel clean. But if this is an “I’m feeling lazy, I’m going to shower late” kinda thing, my late is usually before noon. What I do like is showering in the afternoon or at night after a long day or in preparation for a trip or a special event the following day. I do like that a lot.

I have friends who prefer to shower at night instead of first thing in the morning. What do you think? When do you like to shower? Let me know in the comments below.

Happy Thursday!

Hello and happy Thursday. How’s life? I decided to start using a weekly planner so that every day I can make a detailed list of everything I have to do and I hope it works. Whoever said working from home makes you more productive isn’t a teacher. That’s not the point of today’s post, though, so let’s get to it.

May 6th, 2018: Carlos Vives makes me happy.

Carlos is a Colombian singer whose music can get pretty much everybody in a good mood. Many of his songs are catchy and you can dance to them. Every once in a while I like to listen to his most famous songs as if he were holding a private concert for me.

What type of music gets you in a good mood? Let me know in the comments.

Hello and happy Thursday. I’m going to say something that we are all probably thinking but it has been a long week. And I know it’s technically not over but for me, this is almost like a Friday because, with this whole distance learning thing, I don’t teach on Fridays. That makes me a little happy if I’m being honest. It also makes me happy to look back and see how my life was two years ago. I’m not going to lie, it sometimes feels like way longer.

April 30th, 2018: An awesome workout session makes me happy

It’s like the universe is telling me that I have to get over my laziness and go walk on the treadmill. I don’t remember this workout or why it was awesome, but I’m glad I thought that. I think by then I was going to the gym and I would go into those classes that are free for gym members. I discovered two classes that were similar but they varied in intensity, in which you basically learned a choreography but the steps were more like martial art moves than actual dancing. As I type, I’m trying to remember the name but nothing comes to my mind.

Do you know what I’m talking about? Let me know in the comments below.

April 2020 Thankful Thursday Week 4

Hello and happy Thursday. Are we really in the fourth week of April already? I feel like I sat down, blinked, and April is basically over. I’ve seen different people go through their childhood diaries and recording themselves reading them, but since I have no clue where that gem might be, let’s see what made the Camila of 2018 happy.

April 23rd, 2018: starting a new paperback makes me happy

I could look at Goodreads and tell you what specific book I was talking about, but I’m not going to do it because I’m not feeling 100% productive today. Besides, I think I was happier about the fact that it was a paperback than the book itself. What can I say? I like paperbacks. I like floppy ones, I like mass-market paperbacks (I know, I know), I love their smell and the fact that I think I can read a paperback faster than I do an ebook. There are tiny silly things that make us happy, and I think in the times we’re living, we must look for them.

What’s a seemingly unimportant thing that makes you happy? Let me know in the comments below.

Happy Thursday!

Hello and happy Thursday. This is going to be a common theme in my posts but I want to know how you’re doing. I hope you’re able to stay safe and be comfortable at home. I am lucky that I am and that I have the possibility to work from home. Today we’ll talk about something that fits this whole quarantine thing, can you guess?

April 16th, 2018: Once Upon a Time makes me happy.

Yes, I watched that entire show and there were seasons I even watched more than once. Let’s remember that by April 2018 I was no longer working because I was getting everything ready for my trip to the States. That gave me plenty of time to binge-watch all seasons of one of my favorite shows, and seriously, One Upon a Time is simply amazing. You get two parallel storylines, one in the real world, and one in a magical world. You get the names and the costumes and the fantasy but you also get real-life issues and ugh, I loved it, seriously. Thinking about this show makes me happy.

What shows are you watching to lift your spirits? Anything worth recommending? Let me know in the comments below.

Happy Thursday!

Hello and happy Thursday. It might not feel like it but it’s been a while since I sat down and looked back on the things that made me happy two years ago. I finally have the time, and what’s more important, the right mindset to think about happy things.

Now, let’s remember that 2018 was a rough year for me, or at least, it was the buildup to a generally bad time in my life, so many of the things that I said made me happy then might not make me happy now. Today’s random happy thought is weird, and you’ll see why.

April 2nd, 2018: Getting tattoos makes me happy.

Remember those “bad tattoo” posts I published a while back? Yes, on April 2nd, 2018, when I was on the verge of an existential crisis, I got two tattoos, one of which was misspelled and I have already covered up. Here’s some advice for everyone, okay? Listen up (or read up). The first thing that you should know is that tattoos are never “the solution” to anything. Seriously, it’s like the breakup haircut, only it’s permanent, and also, since you’re probably not feeling 100% you won’t notice that it’s probably ugly or, like in my case, misspelled. Now, attached to that, please do not consider switching tattoo artists if you do decide that what you need in your life is some ink. Going to a shop that is a few blocks away because it’s less of a hassle than going to your usual artist is a bad idea, trust me. Finally, and again, I know this from experience, having any number of tattoos will not prevent you from getting one that you might regret. I covered up part of my eleventh tattoo because I was convinced that what my life needed was more ink, and I wasn’t responsible about it. And guess who I went to see when it was time for a coverup? Of course, it was “my guy,” the one who’s been tattooing me since 2014. And he was so nice and nonjudgmental about it…that made me super happy.

What is one thing you’ve done that you thought would make you happy but didn’t? Let me know in the comments below.

Happy Thursday!

March 2020 Thankful Thursday Week 3

Copy of Copy of THROWBACK THURSDAY.png

Hello and happy Thursday. I love to see that my Thankful Thursday posts are consistently being “liked” by you, and of course, that makes me want to continue looking back and writing them. One day a while ago I decided to look into my notebook of happy thoughts, pick random ones and talk about them with you, and now I continue to do that. Let’s see what made me happy two years ago today.

March 19th, 2018: Brunch with Dani makes me happy.

Dani is my best friend since fourth grade and if you knew her you’d wonder why we’re such good friends if we’re so different. I cannot give you a concrete reason other than we grew up together and the bond we share is deeper and stronger than our career paths and fashion choices. She is the Kate Hudson to my Anne Hathaway in Brides Wars although I am 150% sure we won’t be getting married the same day. She’s the person who keeps me sane and grounded, and honestly, any day that I can spend some time with her is a happy day in my book.

In the comments below tell me something about your best friend.

Happy Thursday!
