Sample vs. Full Size #3

Miss Camila (1).pngHello and happy Sunday. Welcome to another episode of Sample vs. Full Size. How about we discuss some overpriced products and whether I’d buy them or not? Yes? Okay. Let’s get started, shall we?

SERAPHINE BOTANICALS Ginger + Gold -Peach & Gold Frosting Blush

Full size: I got the full size version in my Ipsy glam bag.

Full price: $14

Buy? Yes/No? Why? The shade of this blush is amazing for pretty much every look you decide to go to and it’d definitely be my choice if I could only wear one shade of blush for the rest of my life. The price is higher than what I’m used to paying for products like this, but I would probably consider buying it. It’s not a fuck yes, but’s not a hell no either.

CHELLA Eyebrow Cream in Tantalizing Taupe

Full size: I got the full size version of it in my Ipsy glam bag.

Full price: $26

Buy? Yes/No? Why? Hell no! I’m not crazy enough to spend nearly $30 on an eyebrow cream. I mean, I could get an eyebrow pencil which does the same for $3. I love this shade, and I love how it makes my brows look, especially on days when I like to have them darker, but I wouldn’t even consider buying this product.

TARTE COSMETICS Amazonian Clay Waterproof Bronzer

Full size: I got a sample of the bronzer (3 g or 0.11 oz). The full-size version weighs 0.32 oz.

Full price: $30

Buy? Yes/No? Why? Look, I understand that Tarte is a high-end brand and that means that its products are expensive. This is obviously a great brand, I’m not going to deny the fact that I love the samples I get, but I just don’t feel good spending that much money on a single makeup item. I mean, yesterday my best friend and I went to have lunch and the bill was even cheaper than that

PURETEM Purevera Emulsion

Full size: I got a teeny tiny sample. The full size product contains 130 mL.

Full price: $18

Buy? Yes/No? Why? This is a product I actually used a while ago, so I don’t really remember my exact thoughts on it. I’m sure my review is somewhere in an Empties post. It is a moisturizer I’d wear for after showering, before getting started with my makeup routine. I would pay $18 for a moisturizer because I think skin care is super important and goes beyond looking nice. I also think that given the size of the product, it’s going to last me a while, so it’s worth the price.

TRESTIQUE Mini Concealer Crayon in Porcelain

Full size: I got the mini version of the crayon.

Full price: $24

Buy? Yes/No? Why? I actually got this product in full size, and not just this, but a whole Trestique kit. I like the concept of stick concealer and I’ve enjoyed this thoroughly, but I wouldn’t buy it again, and not just because of the price. I just think there are many great options when it comes to concealer and I don’t want to be “stuck” with just the one.

As always, let me know which products you’d buy and why.

Happy Sunday!

Miss Camila.pngHello and happy Sunday. Welcome to another episode of Sample vs. Full Size. Today I have five products I can’t wait to talk about. Let’s get started, shall we?

THE BALM COSMETICS Balm Springs Blush

Full size: I gave away my sample, so I don’t know its weight. The full-size version weighs 5.61g or 0.197oz.

Full price: $21

Buy? Yes/no? Why? I really like this brand and I really liked this blush. I think I gave it away because I had a similar shade already, but I love that it’s a matte and it gives the skin that healthy rosy glow. I wouldn’t pay $21 for a blush like this when Revlon, Elf, and even Almay have great blushes for way less than that.

DOUCCE Maxlash Volumizer Mascara

Full size: I got the mini version, and there isn’t information on the full-size one.

Full price: $22

Buy? Yes/ No? Why? This is an alright mascara, but I don’t feel it’s superior to others I’ve tried. I gave this away because I already had others I preferred. I wouldn’t buy this in full size because I think there are drugstore mascaras doing a better job for over half the price.

MARGARET DABBS LONDON Treatment Enriched Nail Polish in Green Daylily

Full size: I got the full size version in by glam bag.

Full price: $22

Buy? Yes/No? Why? I talked more in-depth about this nail polish in a haul, so be sure to check it out. Basically, I like the color but I’m not too sure about the formulation. I think the pricepoint for this is absurd, and I wouldn’t think about buying this or any other shade in the line. I’d rather stick to my $1 nail polish I get at the supermarket, which has a way better formulation and lasts me more than a day.

DELECTABLE BY CAKE BEAUTY Triple Moisture Body Lotion in Coconut & Cream

Full size: I’m pretty sure I got the travel size version (60 ml or 2 fl. oz). The full size version contains 236 ml or  8 fl. oz.

Full price: The travel size version is $6 and the full size version is $14.

Buy? Yes/No? Why? I already talked about this product in an Empties post, but I don’t remember whether I said I’d buy it or not. Right this second I think I would pay $14 for the full-size version because I really loved the scent and the feel of this lotion, and I think the price is fair. Please don’t make it more expensive!

VASANTI COSMETICS Power Oil Lip Gloss in Super Mom

Full size: I got the full size version in my glam bag.

Full price: $22

Buy? Yes/No? Why? First and foremost, what is it with companies charging $22 for their products? I absolutely adore this lipgloss and I think both the formulation and the shade are amazing. This could easily be one of my favorite, most-used lippies, but knowing how expensive it is, I’d rather buy the more affordable versions brands like NYX, Maybelline, Revlon, and L’Oreal have to offer.

In the comments, let me know whether you’d buy any of these products and why.

Happy Sunday!

Hello and happy Sunday. I recently got an email from Ipsy saying that my one-year subscription was over and so my membership got cancelled. I’m not going to renew it because I’m moving abroad next month and I seriously need to save…don’t laugh, I’m not joking. A few weeks ago, however, I got this cool idea that I had sort of tried in both my unboxings and some of my “Empties” post, and it’s looking at the full-size/ full-price version of the samples I’d gotten and tell whether I’d buy them or not. Let’s get started, shall we?

LUXIE BEAUTY Dreamcatcher Precision Foundation Brush 660

Full-size: Because it’s a brush, I got the real deal in my glam bag as opposed to a mini version.

Full price: $23

Buy? Yes/No? Why? I use this brush every day to apply my primer, and I absolutely love it. I would not repurchase it once I decide to throw away the one I have, and in all honesty, I wouldn’t have considered buying this brush hadn’t I gotten it in my glam bag. I’m not a fan of spending that much money on makeup-related items, especially if I’m only getting one brush as opposed to a whole set.

JELLY PONG PONG Super Charged Super Intense Eyeshadow Duo in Electric

Full-size: I got the full-size version of this duo in my glam bag.

Full price: $22.95

Buy? Yes/No? Why? The shades of this duo are cute, okay? And if this were the only one eyeshadow duo I owned, I’d be able to manage with it everyday, despite the fact that both are shimmers. That being said, I would never pay that much money for a tiny little thing with two shadows, when I can pay under $10 for a Covergirl palette that has eight shades (and yes, including mattes).

HEY HONEY Bésame Mucho

Full-size: I got a sample in my glam bag (8mL or .27 oz). The full-size version has 15mL or .5oz.

Full price: $14

Buy? Yes/No? Why? Would I pay $14 for a lip balm? Not in a million years. Why? Because even though this is a good product, I don’t think it’s worth that amount of money. Even if it was half the price, I’d still think it’s way too much. I realize I may be coming off as stingy, but, honestly, some products are so extremely overpriced it’s absurd.

URBAN DECAY Afterglow in Sin

Full-size: I got a sample in my glam bag (2.4g or .08 oz). The full-size version weighs 6.8g or .23 oz.

Full price: $26

Buy? Yes/No? Why? Brands like Urban Decay make me want to consider getting a sugar daddy because I think that’s the only way I could afford their products. I envy beauty gurus that get this stuff for free because I honestly would never think about spending nearly $30 in a single highlighter.

PIXI BY PETRA Endless Silky Eye Pen in BlackNoir

Full-size: I got a mini version of the pencil.

Full price: $12

Buy? Yes/No? Why? Ask yourself right now: would I honestly spend $12 in an eyeliner? I would probably think about it, if it weren’t a pencil eyeliner you actually have to sharpen. I mean, honestly, I don’t care how great this is, I’m not going to pay all that money for a pencil eyeliner.

As you can see, I’m obviously not a fan of spending a lot of money on a single item, and I think that there are many overpriced products and brands out there. I like Ipsy as well as other subscription boxes because they allow me to try these products and brands without going broke or feeling guilty afterwards. In the comments below, tell me if there’s anything I shared in this post that you’d buy and why.

Happy Sunday!
