July 2018 Ipsy Glambag

July 2018 Ipsy Glambag

DERMAE

Hello and happy Sunday. You know I’m a mess when I post the August Ipsy glambag haul before the July one, right? But at this point I don’t think I’m going to change and straighten up my game, so we’ll just go with the flow. Like last week, what I’m going to do is list each product and link it whenever possible. I will also give you a brief description of it and tell you about the contents of the full size product and its price. Let’s get started, shall we?

Ofra Cosmetics Eyeshadow in Exquisite

I’ve previously talked about singles and I’ve expressed my preference towards palettes because of convenience in terms of price and also practicality. This particular shade is absolutely stunning, especially to use instead of eyeliner. It gives this badass vibe to the look while still keeping it classy. I got a single which weighs 4 g or 0.14 US oz, which is what each eyeshadow weighs normally. It costs $15, though, which I think is straight up stupid and I wouldn’t spend that amount of money on just one tiny shadow pan.

Sundays Nail Polish in No. 45

I love nail polish as much as I love makeup, but given that I change my nail color every week or so, I’m not a fan of spending a ton of money in these products. The color I got is a cute light blue that I think looks awesome on short nails, but it chips pretty quickly. I got an actual full size bottle in my glam bag, which costs $18. Now, you already know my answer, but would you pay that amount of money for nail polish?

HEMPZ Sweet Pineapple & Honey Melon Herbal Body Mosturizer

Let me start by saying that this thing smells like a cocktail I’d drink (virgin though because straightedge). Seriously, I love the scent of this lotion as well as the feel of it in my skin. I think texture-wise it’s right in the middle between super liquid and thick, and that’s pretty much my preferred texture. I’m not going to say anything about the marijuana leaf in the bottle, okay? Okay. The version I got is 2.25 fl oz or 66 mL. That is the sample size and costs $7.50.  The full size version is 17 fl oz or 500 mL and is $23. Honestly, just comparing quantities and prizes, I would consider getting the full size version.

Smashbox Studio Skin 24 Hour Waterproof Concealer in Light

Remember that one time I got a Smashbox product in another Glam Bag and I talked trash about it because I hated it? Well, Smashbox sort of redeemed itself with this concealer because it’s been my go-to product for my undereye area since I got it. I honestly love the pink undertone and the texture. I also love that I got a full size version of the product to try on. What I don’t love, sadly, is the fact that it costs $25, which means that I will probably never buy it.

Sugar Stroke of Genius Heavy-Duty Kohl in Purple Rain

This is a new brand for me and honestly I was pleasantly surprised both by the quality of this eyeliner and the price. It costs $6.99, which I think is a good price for colorful eyeliners because they’re going to last me more than my blacks or browns. I like how this glides on and I’ve been playing with it by adding a pop of color to my looks. I will definitely keep this brand in mind.

Which of these products was your favorite and why? Let me know in the comments below.

Happy Sunday!

Hello and happy Sunday. Today I’m happy to announce that this will be our last Sample vs. Full Size post because from now on I will integrate this to the usual Ipsy Glam Bag unboxing/ review. I’m also happy to announce that yes, I recently re-subscribed to Ipsy, so at least for the next year we’ll have goodies coming every month. Let’s get started, shall we?

H2O+ BEAUTY Oasis Hydrating Treatment

Full size: I got the sample size version, which has 0.34 oz. The full size version contains 1.7 oz.

Full price: $38

Buy? Yes/No? Why? I don’t think this was that great to begin with. I mean, I could feel the immediate hydrating effect, but I didn’t see anything lasting. I don’t buy mediocre products, especially not when they cost nearly $40. I think there are better products out there for a quarter of the price.

TRIFLE COSMETICS Sugar Bunny Lip Scrub

Full size: I got the full size version, which contains 10 mL or 0.34 fl. oz.

Full price: $17.95

Buy? Yes/No? Why? If you’ve been around for a while, then you know there are some products that I consider “non-essential,” meaning that I don’t use them everyday; they’re not a part of my usual routine. Highlighter is a non-essential, just like lip scrub. I exfoliate my lips every once in a while, and I currently own two lip scrubs I got in Ipsy glam bags, so I don’t feel the need to buy these myself. I also don’t feel the need to spend $17.95 on something I could easily make at home, if I wanted to.

THE VINTAGE COSMETIC COMPANY Slanted Tweezers in Rose Gold

Full size: I got the actual tweezers in my Ipsy glam bag.

Full price: $10.50

Buy? Yes/No? Why? When it comes to beauty tools, I usually have just one, and when that seems to have served its time, I buy another one. I don’t have different versions of the same makeup brush, and I’m not one to have different pairs of tweezers when I only need one. I already have my tweezers, so I don’t really use these new ones. I’m keeping them for when the others don’t work. As always with items I wouldn’t purchase myself, I’m glad these were sent to me because I wouldn’t have spent $10.50 on something you find at the drugstore for $2.

PAULA DORF COSMETICS Bronzer in Bora Bora

Full size: I got the sample size version that weighs 2.1 g. The full size weighs 10 g.

Full price: $32

Buy? Yes/No? Why? I didn’t really like this product to begin with because it made my face look ashy, and who wants that? That itself is obviously reason enough for me not to buy it. If it were good, I wouldn’t think about buying it either because I think it’s way too overpriced for a brand that up until a few months ago was unknown to me.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Stockholm

Full size: I got the full size version of the lip cream in my glam bag.

Full price: $6.50

Buy? Yes/No? Why? I obviously wouldn’t buy this same shade because I already own it, but I’ve bought several lip creams from this brand. You know I love NYX products because they are the perfect balance between quality and price. This is a yes, yes, yes for me.

Now, as always, in the comments let me know which product you would buy and why.

Happy Sunday!

Hello and happy Sunday. We’re almost there, we’re almost at the end of this journey, which has left me with the realization that some makeup brands are just stupidly expensive and that I am incredibly cheap. I have five products I want to talk about today, and see if maybe we’ll find something I would buy. Let’s get started, shall we?

ROYAL AND LANGNICKEL Prismatic Ombre Fan Brush

Full size: I got the actual brush in my glam bag.

Full price: I found a set that has three brushes and a case for $19.99.

Buy? Yes/No? Why? I was honestly surprised to see how affordable this brand is. Of course, I already have the fan brush as well as basically any other makeup brush you can think of, so I wouldn’t buy one for myself. I could, however, think about getting a set as a gift to someone who’s getting started with makeup or who wants to up their game, like my mom or one of my sisters. See? We just got started and I’ve already got surprises.

DIRTY LITTLE SECRET COSMETICS Baked Highlighter in Prosecco

Full size: I got the full size product in my bag.

Full price: $14

Buy? Yes/No? Why? I’m not sure if I’ve ever told you this, but I’ve never bought a highlighter. All the ones I’ve owned have come from subscription services. I don’t wear highlighter on an everyday basis and I don’t think it’s an important step in my makeup routine. That’s why I wouldn’t pay $14 for one, like ever.

BRTC Jasmine Waterful Foaming Cleanser

Full size: I got a sample that had 30 ml. The full size version has 150 ml.

Full price: $22.99

Buy? Yes/ No? Why? This is a good product and the price is not that crazy, at least the one I found on Amazon. I think, however, that for that same price I could find a L’Occitane product and I’d much rather go for that one than this K-Beauty brand.

TARTE COSMETICS Sex Kitten Eyeliner

Full size: I got the mini version of the pencil.

Full price: $20

Buy? Yes/No? Why? Just like with highlighter, I never buy eyeliner for myself because I’m always getting new ones in subscription boxes. I’ve talked about other pencil eyeliners before, and I think you already know my opinion, but I’ll say it again: I’m not paying $20 for something I could get for $1.

DOUCCE Freematic Eyeshadow Mono in Ariana

Full size: The sample I got weighs 1.4 g. I couldn’t get any information on the weight of the full size version.

Full price: $10

Buy? Yes/No? Why?  I’m not a fan of eyeshadow singles. I think they’re a waste of product and money. I wouldn’t spend $10 in a single shadow. That’s just not me.

As always, I’d like you to let me know which of these products you’d get and why.

Happy Sunday!

Hello and happy Sunday. We’re reaching the end of this series, but I have good news: I just re-subscribed to Ipsy so we’ll soon have the new products, and within those unboxings I’m going to add the full-price/full-size portion so that you know whether I’d buy the stuff I get or not. Let’s get started, shall we?

JERSEY SHORE COSMETICS Apple Harvest Hydrating Balm

Full size:  I got the full size product in my glam bag.

Full price: The actual apple balm wasn’t in the site, but I found similar products with different scents that were $10, so we’ll go with that.

Buy? Yes/No? Why? Hell no. I’m not spending $10 on a single lip balm, even if it were a medicated one, which this isn’t. I’m not going to pay $10 for something that usually costs $2. I think in cases like this one I’m paying more for the brand than I am for the product, you know? It’s like I’m justifying that I spent all that money in a single lip balm because hey, I’m using Jersey Shore Cosmetics. Not going to happen.

PÜR Mini Fully Charged Mascara

Full size: I got the mini version, which has 0.14 fl. oz. The full size version has 0.44 fl. oz.

Full price: $22

Buy? Yes/No? Why? This mascara is good, but it’s not amazing, in my opinion. If it were amazing, I’d consider buying it, like I have other products I’ve tried and loved. I’m not in love with this one, so I wouldn’t be willing to pay $22 for it. Is the price absolutely crazy? No, it’s high, but I’ve seen worse, and I’m sure there are many people who find this to be a great deal.

SERAPHINE BOTANICALS Lychee + Gold Blush

Full size: I got the full size version in my glam bag.

Full price: $14

Buy? Yes/No? Why? I’d already discussed a blush from this collection in another shade, remember? I don’t know what I said about the price then, but I’m pretty sure past me and present me will agree that $14 is a lot for a single blush, even if it’s gorgeous like this. I think I said this before already, but I’ll say it again: Seraphine Botanicals needs to do something about its prices because they’re kind of crazy.

LUXIE BEAUTY Blending and Shading Eye Brush 429

Full size: I got the actual brush in my glam bag.

Full price: I couldn’t find this particular brush on the site.

Buy? Yes/No? Why? I cannot say whether I’d buy this brush or not because I don’t know its actual price. I wouldn’t buy it for myself anyway because I already have one of those and I don’t need another one.

IT COSMETICS Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer

Full size: I got a sample that has 3.25 ml. The full size version has 8 ml.

Full price: $24

Buy? Yes/No? Why? Here’s the deal: I didn’t like this product. It think it’s too thick, which makes it hard to blend, and then it kind of picks up when I’m applying my foundation, and I just don’t like it. For that reason alone I wouldn’t buy it, so this isn’t even a matter of price, although let me tell you, $24 is a lot. For that I could buy three of my favorite drugstore concealers.

What do you think about the prices of these products? Is there anyone you’d buy? Let me know in the comments.

Happy Sunday!

Sample vs. Full Size #9

Miss Camila (1).pngHello and happy Sunday. When I write posts like this, I’m always in awe at the variety of products I get to try thanks to Ipsy, especially because they tend to be expensive, so I wouldn’t have a chance to play with them otherwise. Today, as always, I have a set of products for you, and we’ll figure out if I’d buy the full size version or not. Let’s get started, shall we?

CAKE BEAUTY Heavy Cream Intensive Body Balm

Full size: I got the travel size that was 30ml or 1 fl. oz. The full size version is 150ml or 5 fl. oz; and a travel size that is

Full price: The full-size version is $22, while the travel size is $9.

Buy? Yes/No? Why? I love this cream. It is super thick, so a little goes a long way. I wouldn’t pay $9 for the travel-size, but I would pay $22 for the full size. Just do the math: you’d be paying a little over two times the price for five times as much product, and trust me when I tell you it’ll last you a long while.

DIRTY LITTLE SECRET COSMETICS Eyeshadow in Sangria

Full size: I got the full size version in my glam bag.

Full price: $12

Buy? Yes/No? Why? This shade is simply stunning and I love to wear it when I want to add a pop of color to a look. I wouldn’t buy it, though because I have a very strict policy of not buying singles that cost the same as a full palette. I don’t think it makes any sense and I personally don’t think that any eyeshadow single is worth over $10.

BELLÁPIERRE Cosmetics Stay Put Brow Gel in Cardamom

Full size: I got the full size version in my glam bag.

Full price: $25

Buy? Yes/No? Why? Hell no! I love my eyebrows and I want them to look pretty, but they’re not worth a $25 gel, especially not when I often like to alternate between shades depending on my mood or the look I’m going for.

THE BALM COSMETICS Mary-Lou Manizer

Full size: I got a sample version of the highlighter.

Full price: $24

Buy? Yes/No? Why? We all know the answer to this one already, but let me remind you. No, I would not buy this product, for several reasons. Number one, I don’t believe in paying that amount of money for a single item, especially when there are palettes that are just as good and that cost the same or less. Number two, highlighter is not an essential for me, which means I’m more inclined to pay less for products like this. Number three, I have enough highlighters already in different shades, so I really don’t need another one.

ANDALOU NATURALS Argan & Shea Styling Cream

Full size: I got the sample version that is 1.7 fl. oz or 50ml. The full size version is 6.8 fl oz. or 200ml.

Full price: The sample version is $1.99 and the full size is $9.95.

Buy? Yes/No? Why? I only use this type of products twice a week, which is how often I wash my hair, so I think I’d get the mini version, which has a fantastic price point. Fuck yes, I’d buy this, and I also recommend it 100%.

Would you buy any of these products? Let me know in the comments below!

Miss Camila.png

Hello and happy Sunday. Yesterday I started packing my stuff for Baltimore and I’m kind of freaking out and also forcing myself to be calm, cool, and collected. For now, I’ll just take deep breaths and go to my happy place, which is full of makeup and pretty things. I’ll also tell you about some products I got in an Ipsy glam bag way back when, and whether I’d buy the full size version or not and why. Let’s get started, shall we?

CHELLA Eyebrow Defining Gel

Full size: I got the full size version of the product in my glam bag.

Full price: $18

Buy? Yes/No? Why? I remember when I was at school and didn’t wear any makeup whatsoever. I remember I had a classmate who would wear clear mascara, not just on her eyelashes but on her brows. When I started playing with makeup, I bought a tube of Great Lash clear mascara and would wear it one my brows sometimes. That costs half as much as what this gel costs and it has more contents. If I were to buy a clear gel for my brows, which I currently don’t need, what would you think I’d buy? Make a wild guess.

LUXIE Beauty Precision Shader Onyx Brush 239

Full size: I got the actual brush in my glam bag.

Full price: $14

Buy? Yes/No? Why? I’m going to say something I’ve said before with other products, and it’s that yes, I think this is overpriced, but at the same time I don’t think it’s crazy expensive. Like, it’s still a no for me, but not a hell no, especially because I absolutely adore this brush and I use it every day to apply my eyeshadow, but I’m sure there are other brands that are just as good and way less expensive.

SERAPHINE BOTANICALS Lip Polish in Orange + Cream

Full size: I’m pretty sure I got the full-size version of this product, which weighs 10g or 0.35 oz.

Full price: $18

Buy? Yes/No? Why? I’ve reviewed a few Seraphine Botanicals products before, and I still haven’t learned that for some reason this brand’s prices are ridiculously expensive. No, I would not pay nearly $20 for a lip scrub, that’s just not the way I am. Yes, I have to admit that this has lasted me a long time, so for some people it might be worth the high price. For me, it’s not; lip scrubs are not essentials, they’re just nice additions, so it just feels wrong to pay so much for one.

NYX Faux Blacks Eyeliner in Black Olive

Full size: I got the actual pencil in my glam bag.

Full price: $8

Buy? Yes/No? Why? I absolutely adore NYX and everything this brand comes up with. I think both the faux black and the faux white lines are gorgeous. Yes, I would buy other shades from these lines, and I’d only feel guilty for like five minutes. I think NYX is worth the $8.

SON & PARK Beauty Water

Full size: I got a sample, which was 1 oz. The full size version is 11.49 oz.

Full price: $30

Buy? Yes/ No? Why? I love skincare, okay? And I honestly try my best to work for my skin’s health because I know that’s what matters in the long run and not the amount of foundation and other makeup products I pack on every day. That being said, there are products that I just don’t know what they were made for. Tonic is one of them. I sometimes used tonic as a primer, and some other times I used it to remove excess makeup at the end of the day, but like the lip scrub, it’s just an extra for me. I’m not going to pay $30 for a product I don’t yet understand.

That’s it for today. As always, let me know in the comments below which of these products you’d buy and why.

Happy Sunday!

Miss Camila (1).pngHello and happy Sunday. Welcome to another episode of “How Cheap Is Camila?” Today I have five products, some from brands that are new to me, and we’ll see if they make the cut. Let’s get started, shall we?

GLAMOUR DOLLS X LISA FRANK Bitten & Bronzed Matte Bronzer

Full size: I got the full size version of the bronzer in my Ipsy glam bag.

Full price: $5.99

Buy? Yes/No? Why? Fuck yes! When I had to look up some brushes on this site for a previous post I was pleasantly surprised with the affordable prices. As I saw who much (how little) this bronzer is, I was once again in awe. I need to check out this brand in depth and get more of their products because I think it’s fantastic that they’re so high-quality and concerned with nice packaging for amazing prices.

MANNA KADAR Cosmetics HD Perfecting Powder

Full size: I got a sample version of this product. I couldn’t find information of the full size version in the website.

Full price: $29

Buy? Yes/No? Why? Here’s the deal: I don’t currently live in the States, and even though I’m technically a professional makeup artist, I don’t live and breathe makeup, so I don’t always know about the hot brands or products out there. There are possibly many brands that are unknown to me, and that are super hip otherwise, and maybe Manna Kadar is one of those. If that’s the case, then I kind of understand the price, but personally I think new, less recognized brands shouldn’t be that expensive, at least not at first. I clearly wouldn’t pay $29 for a powder from a brand I know, let alone one that is new to me.

BANG BEAUTY Lipgloss in Spice

Full size: I got the full size version of this lipstick in my Ipsy glam bag.

Full price: $18

Buy? Yes/No? Why? I’m seriously disappointed because I was getting mentally prepared for another fuck yes, until I saw the price. I just don’t think a single lipgloss, no matter how absolutely stunning it is, costs nearly $20. It’s a no for me.

TARTE COSMETICS Deluxe Amazonian Clay Blush in Feisty

Full size: I got a sample version of the full size product. I couldn’t find information on the weight of the full size version in the website.

Full price: $29

Buy? Yes/No? Why? I have to clarify something and it’s the fact that I couldn’t actually find the product that was sent to me, probably because it was Deluxe meaning limited edition, so the price information is based on the regular blushes. Would I pay nearly $29 for a blush? Hell no!

SOROCI Morning Calming Cream

Full size: I got a sample size version of the original product. I couldn’t find any information of the contents in the website.

Full price: $30

Buy? Yes/No? Why? This is a nice cream, but it’s definitely not nice enough for me to think about spending $30 on it. I’d consider buying it if it were half the price, so let me know if there’s ever a sale.

Which of these products would you get? Let me know in the comment.

Happy Sunday!

Love, Miss Camila
