Calm, Cool, and Cranberry

Calm, Cool, and Cranberry

Kevyn Aucoin Beauty

Hello and happy Monday. Last week I told you I’d seen Jeffree Star use this technique for applying eyeshadow and that I wanted to play with it. I’ve already done a matte-on-matte look, so I thought that today it would be fun to try a matte-on-shimmer look: shimmer all over the eyelid and then a matte shade on the crease. I had the perfect cranberry combo to try this technique with, which I think looks super classy and “adult” but is still fresh and, most importantly, easy to achieve. These are the steps I followed for this look:

  1. Primer
  2. Foundation
  3. Concealer
  4. Powder
  5. Eyebrows
  6. Contour
  7. Blush
  8. Pink highlighter
  9. Shimmery red eyeshadow (start in the inner corner and blend all over the lid)
  10. Matte cranberry (crease and lower lash line)
  11. Copper (eyeliner)
  12. Mascara
  13. Lipstick
  14. Dewy setting spray

What’s your favorite eyeshadow combination? Let me know in the comments below.

Happy Monday!

Hello and happy Monday. Yesterday I was feeling super uninspired but at the same time I wanted to add some glam because I know my looks have been pretty simple lately, so I went into YouTube and after some digging around I found this video of Thomas Halbert following a Jeffree Star makeup tutorial and I thought “this is it!” Turns out that the look Jefree did was very easy to recreate even though I obviously had none of the products he showed (I didn’t even had what Thomas used on his face). I did find a super useful technique to use for the eyes that can work with two mattes or a matte and a shimmer, and that you’ll be seeing in future posts. This is how I ended up doing my makeup:

  1. Primer
  2. Foundation
  3. Concealer
  4. Powder
  5. Lip scrub
  6. Contour
  7. Highlight
  8. Matte brown (start in the inner corner and blend across the lid)
  9. Dark brown (crease)
  10. Dark brown (lower lash line)
  11. Nude (eyebrow highlight)
  12. Black eyeliner (waterline)
  13. Mascara
  14. Shiny nude lipstick
  15. Eyebrows
  16. Dewy setting spray

Now this look could’ve used a few extra steps in my opinion. I even added two that Jefree didn’t do at all. How would you adapt this look to suit your makeup needs? Let me know in the comments below.

Hello and happy Monday. Don’t you have days in which you plan a whole look and then as you start working on it you realize you did something completely different, but still end up loving the results? Well, today I was planning on doing a very pink look, with shimmery baby pink eyes and cute and flirty nude lips. I ended up doing a berry/plum look. To achieve this look I followed the steps below:

  1. Primer
  2. Foundation
  3. Concealer
  4. Eyebrows
  5. Powder
  6. Plum (outer corner)
  7. Dark purple (second third of the eye)
  8. Shimmery pink (inner corner)
  9. Blend pink and purple
  10. Plum and dark purple (lower lash line)
  11. Copper (waterline)
  12. Mascara
  13. Contour
  14. Red blush
  15. Matte lip crayon
  16. Baby pink lip gloss

Have you ever tried to go for a look and ended up something completely different that you loved? Tell me about it in the comments below.

Hello and happy Monday. I believe that the makeup looks you come up with depend on your current mood, and I’m not always up to experiment and do something super crazy. Today’s look, for example, is one that I’ve already done a lot, and at this point is sort of a classic for me, but I tried something new in terms of the products I used. These are the steps I followed to achieve it:

  1. Primer
  2. Foundation
  3. Concealer
  4. Eyebrows
  5. Banana powder
  6. Copper eyeliner (waterline)
  7. Blue pigment (lower lash line)
  8. Mascara
  9. Bronzer
  10. Blush+ highlighter
  11. Copper lipgloss

In the comments below tell me about some new products you’ve been trying to spice up your classic looks.

Cool-Toned Inverted Smokey Eye

Hello and happy Monday. I want to share a look that I’d had in my mind for a while and I finally tried it recently. I call it an inverted smokey eye because it starts with the darkest shade in the inner corner and lightens up all the way to the outer corner. You can see it kind of changes the eye shape a bit, and I honestly was living for it. These are the steps I followed to achieve it:

  1. Primer
  2. Cool brown (crease)
  3. Blue eyeliner (inner corner)
  4. Smudge eyeliner
  5. Light blue eyeliner (center of the lid)
  6. Smudge eyeliner
  7. Silver eyeshadow (outer corner)
  8. Light blue eyeliner (lower lash line)
  9. Mascara
  10. Foundation
  11. Concealer
  12. Powder
  13. Eyebrows
  14. Bronzer
  15. Blush
  16. Highlighter
  17. Lipliner
  18. Lipgloss

What look have you been experimenting with lately? Let me know in the comments.

Hello and happy Monday. Today I bring you a very basic routine for those days when you either have about thirty seconds to do your makeup or you don’t want to do much but you also want to look like you’re alive. This really simple look was inspired by a Tanya Burr video, so you know it’s going to be quick, easy and not at all over the top. Now, the cool thing about this look is that you can build it up and add more steps if you feel like it, and trust me, you’ll look awesome. Here are the steps I followed to achieve it:

  1. Primer
  2. Foundation
  3. Concealer
  4. Eyebrows
  5. Mascara
  6. Brown eyeliner (waterline)
  7. Bronzer
  8. Blush
  9. Lipstick

How would you build up this look? Let me know in the comments below.
