March 2019 Kindle Haul

March 2019 Kindle Haul

100th.pngHello and happy Wednesday. Welcome to another episode of “signs Camila is a very cheap person, but still manages to compulsively buy books every month.” I know, I know, it’s a problem and I don’t want to fix it any time soon. In March 2019 I did change my book-buying system, so instead of getting a bunch of books at the beginning of the month, I decided every time I finished reading one, I would get a new one. I managed to read five books, apparently because that’s the number of titles that I will haul for you today. Let’s get started, shall we?

How to Be a Woman by Caitlin Moran

Sale price: $1.99

Current price: $9.99

Alex, Approximately by Jenn Bennett

Sale price: $1.99

Current price: $8.99

All Is Not Forgotten by Wendy Walker

Sale price: $1.99

Current price: $9.99

When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi

Sale price: $1.99

Current price: $12.99

The Art of Non-Conformity by Chris Guillebeau

Sale price: $1.99

Current price $1.99 (yay!)

As you can see, I got my fair share of nonfiction in March. Do you read any nonfiction books? If so, what kind? Also, which is the last nonfiction book you bought? Tell me all about this in the comments below.

Happy reading!

February 2019 Kindle Haul

February 2019 Kindle Haul

100th.pngHello and happy Wednesday. I’m a hoarder, okay? There’s no other way to put it. I also love spending money, but I love saving it even more, hence the insane amount of books I have acquired over the past few months. Today’s post features four titles I recently bought. Let’s get started, shall we?

A Study in Charlotte by Brittany Cavallaro

I got this beauty for $1.99, but what else is new? You can get it for free if you have Kindle Unlimited, which I highly suggest, or for $6.99.

This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab

I’ve heard so much about this author, that when I saw this book was $1.99, I knew I had to get it. It is now $7.99 if you’re interested in buying it.

Love, Life, and the List by Kasie West

This book is currently $9.99. I got it for $1.99, so I would suggest that you turn on notifications so that you know when the price drops again.

The Someday Suitcase by Corey Ann Haydu

I paid the usual $1.99 for this middle-grade novel, but you can get it for free with Kindle Unlimited. If you don’t have KU, you can buy this book for $6.99.

What are the newest titles in your collection? Let me know in the comments.

Happy reading!

Alibris: Books, Music, & Movies

100th (2).pngHello and happy Wednesday. Apparently, I gave myself a break in November of 2018 because I didn’t buy any ebooks then. I did get seven new titles for my collection in December, and I want to tell you all about how little I spent. Let’s get started, shall we?

Black Beauty by Anna Sewell

Good news about this book! It’s still $1.99, so if you’ve been thinking about getting it, do it now.

Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit by Jeanette Winterson

This book was $1.99 when I got it, and it is now $9.64.

Wrecked by Maria Padan

This title is now $5.69, which is obviously more than $1.99, but it’s not a terrible price.

The Big Leap by Gay Hendricks

This book is now $11.99, so I would wait for a sale. (I got it for $1.99.) If I’m not mistaken, this is a Great on Kindle book because it belongs to the self-improvement genre. This means that if you get it, you’ll get credit so that you can keep buying Great on Kindle books.

Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert

Again, wait until this is on sale, unless you want to pay $12.99 for it, which let’s be honest, you don’t. You’d rather pay $1.99 like I did, right?

The Home for Unwanted Girls by Joanna Goodman

This book is currently $9.99, if you’re interested in buying it. (Interested on?) Anyway, I bought it for $1.99.

The 12 Dares of Christa by Marissa Burt

This beauty was $1.99 when I got it, and it is now $7.99. Not a terrible price, but would you pay it?

That’s it for today’s haul. I would like to know about the cheapest book you’ve ever gotten. Share some nice stories with me in the comments!

Happy reading!

Hello and happy Wednesday. Yes, this is another post about me getting super cheap ebooks on Kindle, and yes, I am amazed too at the amount of books I acquired. Today I have seven titles, which I all got for $1.99. Let’s get started, shall we?

Freefall by Mindi Scott

I got this book in October, 2018. It is now $8.54, if you wish to purchase it.

The Good Liar by Catherine McKenzie

Although you can no longer get this book for $1.99, you can either borrow it if you have Kindle Unlimited, which means you’ll be getting it for free, or you can buy it for $5.99.

A Shadow Bright and Burning by Jessica Cluess

I got this book in October, 2018. You can buy it now for $9.99.

The Child by Fiona Barton

This book is currently $12.99, so I would suggest that you turn on notifications on it for you to know when it’s going to be discounted.

Reasons to Stay Alive by Matt Haig

Same as the previous book, I’d wait until it’s on sale to buy it because it is now $11.99.

The Iceberg: A Memoir by Marioun Coutts

If you’d like to buy this book, it is $9.99. There was a time when I’d pay that for a book, not anymore.

The Wedding Date by Jasmine Guillory

This cutie is $9.99 as well, so go get it if you’re really desperate to read it. If you’re not, follow my previous advice and turn on notifications so you know when it’s super cheap. Then you can get it.

I want to know about the books you’ve recently bought. Where did you get them from? Were they super cheap or did you splurge on them? Tell me all about them in the comments below.

Happy reading!

Hello and happy Wednesday. I hope you’re ready to update your wishlist and your TBR list because today I bring you some more titles I recently acquired. Also, if everything goes as planned, next week you will be reading the post on how I get cheap ebooks, which I know is something you might be wondering. Let’s get started, shall we?

My Paper Heart by Magan Vernon

I recently reviewed this book, so I’m not going to say much about this because that’s not the point of this blog. You can get it for free, so if you’re on saving mode but still want something to read, this can be a good option. The audiobook is $1.99, in case you’d rather listen to it than read it.

Frankenstein by Mary Shelley

This book is currently $4.49, but the audio version is $0.82, which I think is pretty awesome given that I paid $1.99 for it. I honestly prefer to listen to audiobooks when it comes to classics, so this was great for me. You can get really cheap audiobooks on Kindle, no need to subscribe to Audible.

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain

I paid $0.38 for the audiobook version of this book, which I had bought a while back. Again, I would rather listen to novels like this than read them because I get easily bored.

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain

The audiobook version of this book cost $0.99. I think paying extra for the audiobook is great, both thinking as an individual reader and as a teacher. This is a tool that could be taken advantage of in the classroom.

Resisting Roots by Audrey Carlan

Audrey Carlan is the author of the Calendar Girl series, so of course I was going to take advantage of the fact that I could get this book for free and the audiobook for just $1.99. As you can see by this post, I am in the process of restocking for the long bus rides every morning and afternoon.

Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut

This book is obviously a must, so I had to include it in my reading challenge. It usually costs $6.99, but if you have Kindle Unlimited you can get it for free, which I did. Besides that, I did pay $1.99 for the audiobook version.

That’s it for this audiobook haul. As always, let me know which of these books you’d like to read or listen.

Happy reading!

Kindle Haul #4

Kindle Haul #4

100th (2).pngHello and happy Wednesday. Yes, I have another kindle haul for you. The answers to all the “how the hell does she get to buy so many books at such low prices?” will come to you soon, but for now I have another set of fresh titles that have just recently become a part of my virtual library. Like last time, I’ll tell you how much I got each book for and its current price in case it has changed. Let’s get started, shall we?

Tash Hearts Tolstoy by Kathryn Ormsbee

I got this book by popular demand and by popular demand I mean there was a time everyone was talking about this. This is one of those books that I got because BookTubers were talking about it and I wanted to be cool, so I added it to my wish list and waited until it wasn’t that hyped so the price was low and I could buy it. I got super lucky with this book because I was able to get it for $0.99, and it now is $8.99.

All in Pieces by Suzanne Young

I feel this is an author I have seen and heard a lot about but I’ve never read anything from her, and I’m not really interested in her more popular books because I don’t think I’ll like them. However, this book I bought seems like one I could enjoy, and since I got it for $0.99, I wouldn’t be that mad if I didn’t. The current price for the kindle edition is $8.99.

The Lifted Veil by George Eliot

This is a book that made it to my list because of the reading challenge I created. Literature students can roll their eyes at me, but this is the kind of novel that I’d consider a classic, and like I told you in the last posts, the kindle versions of these are usually cheap. When I got this book it was $1.76, and now it is $2.56, which I think is super manageable still.

The Little Paris Bookshop by Nina George

I like everything Paris because it reminds me of my best friend, who loves Paris, but I wasn’t going to pay full price for this book. I paid $1.99 for it, and if you want to get it, you can for $11.99.

Carve the Mark by Veronica Roth

I remember that when this book had just been released there was some polemic around it and the topics it covers. Still, when coming up with my reading challenge, I kept reading this title, so I decided to give it a chance and either agree with all that was said about it or not. I paid $1.99 for it, and it currently costs $10.99.

The Wednesday Wars by Gary D. Schmidt

This sounds like a funny middle grade book, which is perfect because you know I want to read more of these. If you have FreeTime Unlimited, you can read this book for free, and if you don’t, you can get it for $7.99. I bought it for $1.99.

When the Sea Turned to Silver by Grace Lin

I’m not completely sure, but I think this is another middle grade novel, and from what I could see, the illustrations are just amazing. I paid $1.99 for it and it currently is $7.99.

Which of these books would you like to read and why? Let me know in the comments below.

Happy reading!

100th (1).png

Hello and happy Wednesday. I have develop a system for buying e-books, so if you’d like to save some money and get great reads, stick around because I have more posts like this one planned for the future. Today I’ll share with you eight books, I’ll tell you how much I got them for and whether they’re still being sold at a discounted price. Let’s get started, shall we?

Girl Up: Kick Ass, Claim Your Woman Card, and Crush Everyday Sexism by Laura Bates

If you didn’t know, hi, my name is Camila and I’m a feminist. When I say I’m a feminist I don’t mean I don’t just follow a bunch of “girl power” accounts on Instagram, although I do have a hoodie that says “girl crew.” I mean that I have read a lot on feminism and I know about it at a theoretical level, and I mean that I keep searching for books and articles that keep me informed on how to be a better feminist every day. The kindle edition of this book currently costs $11.99, but because of some miracle I was able to buy it for $0.99.

The Atomic City Girls by Janet Beard

I probably knew about this book from one of those reading lists I found on Pinterest when I was coming up with the ultimate reading challenge. I don’t want to read the synopsis though because you know I like to go into books as blindly as I can. It currently costs $10.99 on kindle, but I was able to get it for $1.99.

Dark Matter by Blake Crouch

This is another book that really wasn’t in my plans, but that got added to the list because of the ultimate reading challenge I created a few weeks ago. I think this is a thriller of sorts, but I’m not sure, so it’s going to be an interesting read for me. I got this in kindle for $1.99, but sadly the price is back up to $9.99.

Little Women by Louisa May Alcott

This one is a classic, so I obviously had to get it and read it at some point. And I don’t just plan to read it, but to actually do a novel study or something with it. I got it for $1.99 and to this day, that’s still the price. If you like classic reads like this one, you should check them on kindle because they are always very cheap or available on Kindle Unlimited.

Hundred Percent by Karen Romano Young

Young adult is nine times out of ten my genre of preference, but for a while I’ve also been leaning towards middle grade books, like Hundred Percent. The kindle version used to be $1.99 and now it is $4.77, which is still kind of cheap I guess.

Impossible Saints by Clarissa Harwood

This is another book I added because of the reading challenge. From what I read about it, which was very little obviously, this is a historical novel. You know that I struggle with those, but we’ll see. I selected these books for my challenge because they had been best sellers or super recommended by people, so I’ll give it a chance. Right now you can buy the kindle edition for $12.99, but I got it for $1.99.

Three Wishes by Liane Moriarty

This appears to be a super successful author I had never heard about before going into the reading challenge, and this is just one of the several novels I’m going to read from her. Can you guess the price of the kindle when I got it? Yes, it was $1.99 indeed, and now it is $7.99.

The Horse Dancer by Jojo Moyes

I love Jojo Moyes’ writing, but I’m done with the Me Before You Series. I was not that excited by After You and still I read it, but I definitely won’t read the next book that came out. If you are, let me know in the comments. Anyway, this book has nothing to do with that series, and that’s why I want to read it. I got it for $1.99, and it is now $11.99.

I have two more kindle hauls coming up, but I’m also planning on writing a post on the system I use to get really cheap books every month. I’m almost sure that I had already done something like this, but I think it’s always good to update and improve your system, especially if it means saving even more money.

Happy reading!

100th (1).png

Hello and happy Wednesday. I know, I shouldn’t make promises to myself that I don’t intend to keep, especially when I’m not emotionally stable and want to use shopping as a coping mechanism. In my defense, the books I bought were $1.99 each and I’m sharing them with you so it’s not all bad. Let’s get started, shall we?

The Chocolate Touch by Patrick Skene Catling

This book usually is $7.99, but I got it for $1.99. If you have kids, then you should try FreeTime Unlimited, which I guess is a family version of Kindle Unlimited. This book is free for subscribers, so definitely check that out.

I See London, I See France by Sarah Mlynowski

This book had been on my wishlist for a while, especially since I requested it on NetGalley and it was denied to me. You’ll get an awesome deal if you’re able to get this book for $1.99 because it usually is $17.99.

I’m Thinking of Ending Things by Iaian Reid

I got this one as part of the reading challenge I decided to start a while ago. When I added it to my wishlist it was $14.99 and I got it for $1.99.

And I Darken by Kiersten White

Back when I used to follow everyone that was someone in the Booktube community, I heard a lot of this author, so it wasn’t a surprise that this book was part of several lists I checked when I was coming up with my reading challenge. Usually at $10.99, I got it for $1.99.

That’s it for today. If you know of any Kindle deals, share them in the comments.

Happy reading!

My Kindle Unlimited List

My Kindle Unlimited List

100th.pngHello and happy Wednesday. Lately I’ve been working on a bookish project I think you’ll love, and while I was at it, I did some “cleaning” to my Kindle library.

I also updated my Kindle Unlimited content by returning books I’d already read and getting new ones from my Wish List. To me, Kindle Unlimited is the closest thing to having access to free ebooks whenever you want to. Basically, you pay $10 a month and can have up to ten books at a time from the Kindle Unlimited library. Every time you finish reading one, you can borrow another one. I personally think it’s an amazing deal because $10 is the average price for just one book, and I clearly ready and buy more than that every month.

If you’re an avid reader, I 100% recommend you try Kindle Unlimited. Here’s the list of books in my Kindle Unlimited library:

  1. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K Rowling
  2. Just a Drop of Water by Kelly O’Malley Cerra
  3. Get Rich, Lucky Bitch! by Denise Duffield Thomas
  4. The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey
  5. Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy
  6. Pretty Girls Dancing by Kylie Brant
  7. The Missing by Caroline Eriksson
  8. Pride and Prejudice (audiobook) by Jane Austen
  9. Fierce by Leah Oviedo
  10. Sparkle by Cara Alwill Leyba

In the comments below let me know if you’ve read any of the books in my list and what your thoughts were.

Happy reading!
