Getting Rid of Old Makeup

Getting Rid of Old Makeup

Hello and happy Sunday. Take a look at that sad pile of makeup, which I clearly kept long after I was supposed to. The first step is admitting that you have a problem and when it comes to knowing when to get rid of stuff, I know I have one. Okay, I do know when it’s time, but I don’t let go. Today, I’ll share with you some tips that I have applied to be sure that it’s time to move a makeup item to its forever home in the trashcan.

Change in the Smell

Please please please please throw away any makeup item that starts smelling funny. When lipstick is bad, it starts getting a play-dough smell. That should give you the hint that it is no longer safe for you to smear it on your lips. If your primer starts smelling way more chemically, almost like pure alcohol, you know that it’s time for you to part ways with it. Basically, be on the lookout for any changes in scent because what they indicate is that there has been a change in the way the ingredients of your makeup item are working.

Texture/ Color Change

While changes in smell are very obvious and telling, changes in texture might be tricky. If you feel like all of a sudden your concealer does not apply the same way that it usually did, it probably means it’s expired and the components are separating. If something is suddenly too liquidy or you start noticing little clogs that weren’t there before, it’s time to throw it away. Change in color can also be a telling sign.

What other signs tell you that you should throw away a makeup product? Let me know in the comments below.

Happy Sunday!

Love, Miss Camila
