Cotton Candy Queen

Cotton Candy Queen

Kevyn Aucoin Beauty

Hello and happy Monday. Sometimes I get this idea in my mind of what I want to do with my makeup and I won’t rest until I’ve executed it. This is exactly the case with today’s makeup look, a purple and pink smokey eye achieved with pencil eyeliners. You know me and you know that I’m extra af, but I also think you can pull this off at more “serious” occasions, even at work. These are the steps I followed:

  1. Primer
  2. Eye primer
  3. Matte brown (crease)
  4. Purple pencil eyeliner (bottom half of the top lid)
  5. Pink pencil eyeliner (top half of the top lid)
  6. Purple eyeshadow (seal purple liner)
  7. Pink eyeshadow (seal pink liner)
  8. Pink eyeshadow (lower lash line)
  9. Mascara
  10. Concealer
  11. Foundation
  12. Powder
  13. Eyebrows
  14. Bronzer
  15. Blush
  16. Pink highlighter
  17. Pink liquid lipstick
  18. Dewy setting spray

Which non-neutrals would you combine for a smokey eye? Let me know in the comments.

Happy Monday!

August 2018 Ipsy Glambag

August 2018 Ipsy Glambag

Hello and happy Sunday. Yes, I am getting Ipsy glambags again, which is super exciting for me, not just because I get cool new products every month, but also because I get to combine the way I did unboxings with the sample vs. full size concept I came up with. Let’s get started, shall we?

Ciaté London Glow-To Highlighter in Moondust

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it now: highlighter is not a necessary step in my makeup routine. It’s a cute addition, and it’s clearly something that will make the look extra. This sample weighs 1.5 g or 0.052 oz, while the full size version weighs 5 g or 0.17 oz. Now, I don’t think I’ve ever bought a highlighter myself. I’ve gotten all of mine from subscription boxes, and at $33.39 there’s no chance in hell I’ll be buying this, even if it’s kinda cute.

Hey Honey Take Away the Drama Peel Off Mask

I always tend to have the same issue with Hey Honey products and it’s that I really like them but then I see the price point and think it’s ridiculous. This mask is nice. It’s not the best mask you’ll try, but it’s something I enjoyed putting on my face. The sample is 12 ml or 0.4 fl oz, while the full size is 60 ml or 2 fl oz, and costs $49. No, honey. Not going to happen.

Pixi by Petra Fresh Face Blush in BeachRose

This product is apparently no longer available, which is awesome, right? Now how can I tell you how much it costs or whether I’d repurchase it? Something I like about this brand is that I get sent full size products, so that means I can get more use out of them and really get an idea of what they are. This one weighs 4.5 g. I use this particular product on no-makeup makeup days because it’s like a combination between bronzer and blush, so it gives my skin that color and healthy glow that only makeup produces.

The Balm Cosmetics Foiled Again in Locked Up

This is like a grayish/ purplish/ silverish eyeshadow and for a while there I was living for it.  The sample weighs 1.2 g or 0.042 oz. Now, this eyeshadow comes in a palette that has twelve shadows and costs $34. I literally just bought my sister two Colour Pop palettes that have nine eyeshadows each for $24. This is my way of saying no, I wouldn’t get this palette even though it’s gorgeous. I also bought a Colour Pop palette for myself, so stay tuned for all the looks I’ll try with it.

SLMISSGLAM Rose Gold Blusher Brush

This brush is super cute and I loved getting it along with the face mask because I could use them together. That’s what I use this for now: face masks, and it doesn’t disappoint. It’s awesome for application and behaves like a queen when I wash it afterwards. You already know that I don’t repurchase brushes because, what’s the point? But still, knowing the price is important in case someone asks for recommendations. I sadly couldn’t find this brush on its own, and the collection it belongs to costs $79.99, which is just stupid. In my opinion, if you want cute, high quality brushes at a reasonable price, go to Glamour Dolls.

As always, I want to know your thoughts on this glambag and whether there’s a product you’d really like to buy.

Happy Sunday!

Spanish Snack Haul 2

Spanish Snack Haul 2

Hello and happy Saturday. A while ago, I shared with you some snacks I bought in Spain, and today I bring you another edition because my dad literally got me a suitcase full of food. This was all bought at El Corte Inglés, which is a must if you’re in Spain. You can get everything from fancy clothes and expensive perfumes to the snacks in the picture, all in the same place.

I’m not going to share the prices of what I’m featuring today because they were all presents and I just think it’s rude to see how much they cost. I will however link each product so that you can check it out for yourself. Let’s get started, shall we?

These are your basic chocolate cookies with chocolate chips. They are rectangular, so they actually look like mini toasts rather than actual cookies. I had them with almond milk and also on their own and they’re good.

These are salty and they have sunflower seeds in them. I think these were my favorite snack out of everything my dad got me, and I feel that even the two bags weren’t enough. I also think that the fact that they’re not sweet and has seeds gives the impression of being a healthier snack.

I hauled these last time and of course I got my dad to bring me more. These are really nice and I like both the flavor and the texture. Again, when I eat them I feel like I’m having something on the healthier side. Plus, they’re shaped like Hello Kitty, which makes them super cute.

You might not know this about me, but gummies are probably my favorite sweet. I especially the sugar coated ones or the ones with liquid filling. These were just the icing on the cake and the thing I didn’t share with anybody, and this time I controlled myself so I didn’t get sick afterwards. TMI?

This is the kind of thing I could sit down and eat all by myself in a matter of minutes. I adore chocolate and cookies, and both of them combined like this is just one of the reasons to believe life is beautiful. Also, isn’t Cadbury like iconic? I don’t know, but  definitely was left wanting more of these.

Hello, my name is Camila and ever since I went to Mexico in 2014 I’ve been obsessed with pumpkin seeds. They’re probably a must when I go to the States, and now I know they’re also sold in Spain. You can get them in Colombia, but without the shell, which for me makes no sense whatsoever because I’m one of those people who, yes, eats the shell too.

Out of all these snacks, which would you try and why?

Happy Saturday!

April Thankful Thursday

April Thankful Thursday

Copy of THROWBACK THURSDAY.pngHello and happy Thursday. As I explained last month, today is the day in which I share five things that made me happy during the month of April. We’re still doing 2017, as this is the first full year I used my notebook of things that make me happy. Let’s get started, shall we?

April 1st, 2017

#490: Beyoncé makeup

I’m pretty sure I was referring here to a look Nikkie Tutorials did inspired by the Lemonade tour, which I recreated and must have loved so much I felt the need to add it to my notebook. In all fairness, anything that has the word “makeup” in it is going to make me happy.

April 4th, 2017

#504: Sweet-ish bread at lunch

Ready for a culture shock? In Colombia, more specifically in Bogota, which is where I’m from and where I’ve lived my whole life, we have this soup called ajiaco. Ajiaco is basically a potato soup, at least that’s what it is for me because I eat it with no chicken. The sides for ajiaco are usually rice, corn on the cob, avocado, and bread. I remember that the first school I worked at served this sweet bread that was amazing and that my students usually didn’t eat, so I’d be left with seconds.

April 8th, 2017

#525: Spending time with my friends from uni

This entry is from a trip I went on with two of my best friends from university. We traveled to Cartagena and had an absolute blast. I remember that trip very fondly and I really wish we could do another version of it in the future. If you don’t know, by the way, Cartagena is one of Colombia’s most touristic cities. It’s in the coast, and it’s always full of hot foreigners. (I meant the “hot” part literally and figuratively)

April 13th, 2017

#547: Intense hair and skin care sessions

I can only imagine the state of my hair and skin after the Cartagena trip from the previous entry. We came back on April 12th, so I’m thinking I decided to spend the following day recovering from the sun, the sand, and everything that could have hurt my precious little body.

April 17th, 2017

#566: Having smiley fries

Are those a thing where you live? Those fries shaped as smiley faces. I used to love them as a kid and the love hasn’t diminished even now that I’m an adult. I don’t know, there’s something special about them. I even feel like they taste better. The advantage of having worked at a school with preschoolers was that I got fun foods like these fries I love so much.

What has made you happy during the month of April? Tell me all about it in the comments.

Happy Thursday!

Kindle Haul #5

Kindle Haul #5

Alibris: Books, Music, & Movies

100th (1).png

Hello and happy Wednesday. I hope you’re ready to update your wishlist and your TBR list because today I bring you some more titles I recently acquired. Also, if everything goes as planned, next week you will be reading the post on how I get cheap ebooks, which I know is something you might be wondering. Let’s get started, shall we?

My Paper Heart by Magan Vernon

I recently reviewed this book, so I’m not going to say much about this because that’s not the point of this blog. You can get it for free, so if you’re on saving mode but still want something to read, this can be a good option. The audiobook is $1.99, in case you’d rather listen to it than read it.

Frankenstein by Mary Shelley

This book is currently $4.49, but the audio version is $0.82, which I think is pretty awesome given that I paid $1.99 for it. I honestly prefer to listen to audiobooks when it comes to classics, so this was great for me. You can get really cheap audiobooks on Kindle, no need to subscribe to Audible.

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain

I paid $0.38 for the audiobook version of this book, which I had bought a while back. Again, I would rather listen to novels like this than read them because I get easily bored.

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain

The audiobook version of this book cost $0.99. I think paying extra for the audiobook is great, both thinking as an individual reader and as a teacher. This is a tool that could be taken advantage of in the classroom.

Resisting Roots by Audrey Carlan

Audrey Carlan is the author of the Calendar Girl series, so of course I was going to take advantage of the fact that I could get this book for free and the audiobook for just $1.99. As you can see by this post, I am in the process of restocking for the long bus rides every morning and afternoon.

Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut

This book is obviously a must, so I had to include it in my reading challenge. It usually costs $6.99, but if you have Kindle Unlimited you can get it for free, which I did. Besides that, I did pay $1.99 for the audiobook version.

That’s it for this audiobook haul. As always, let me know which of these books you’d like to read or listen.

Happy reading!

Hello and happy Monday. Now that I have to wake up super early because of work, I only really do my makeup on the weekends, and hell, I go full glam. Lately I’ve been into looking at tutorials and putting my own twist on the looks, which is why maybe you’ll notice that the order of the steps in today’s makeup is a little different from what I normally do. Today’s look is for those of you who are feeling a bit extra and just want to be bold, brave and beautiful. These are the steps I followed:

  1. Primer
  2. Eye primer
  3. Reddish brown (crease)
  4. Dark brown (inner and outer corner)
  5. Cut crease
  6. Warm gold (center of the lid)
  7. Mascara
  8. Black (top lash line)
  9. Foundation
  10. Concealer
  11. Bake
  12. Eyebrows
  13. Reddish brown + dark brown (lower lash line)
  14. Black (lower lash line)

One Month of Sugar Bear Hair

One Month of Sugar Bear Hair

Hello and happy Saturday. If you read last week’s post, you know that I was kinda disappointed with the lack of visible advances in my hair from week one to week two. Today I have a completely different attitude because, honestly, who’s that queen in the picture?

Look at that shiny, volume-y, wavy hair. Look at how much it’s grown! I feel like I can do so many hairstyles now that I hadn’t been able to try because the length just wasn’t there, and I feel like shade-wise my hair has gotten its life back. You can actually see that there are some natural highlights going on.

I didn’t mention this in the previous post, but I have to admit that I did have a massive falling out situation. Again, like I’ve explained, that is caused by anxiety, and it’s not something Sugar Bear Hair can really prevent. I can say, however, that it was just one episode as opposed to the sort of uncontrollable situation I was going through before taking these supplements.

In one month, I’ll show you the final results of this little experiment. Now, I’m not sure if you’ve heard but Sugar Bear has come up with these multivitamins, and almost at the same time, Tati released Halo Kiwi, which is targeted specifically for the skin. In the comments below let me know whether you’d like to see me try one or both of these products and share my experience with you.

Happy Saturday!

My New Teacher Notebook

My New Teacher Notebook

Lovely Wholesale

Hello and happy Saturday. Yes, today I actually have a teaching-related post like we used to have every Saturday way back when. I wanted to share with you the teacher notebook I bought in Spain, which I got for about $22. Now, I know we’re all good people here and none of you would think about doing anything with the pictures of the inside of my notebook, but sadly there are people who might use the pictures to “create” and sell their own teacher notebooks, and that’s something I don’t want to risk. For that reason, I’ll just describe to you what the notebook has and you’ll have to rely on your imagination to picture it. Let’s get started, shall we?

When you open the notebook you have calendars for the 2017-2018, 2019-2019, and 2019-2020 school years. That itself is awesome because it means this can be used throughout the years. Then there is a cardboard cover and the actual “notebook” begins. You have a page to fill in your contact information, and then some blank pages. What I love about this is that every section has written “instructions” of ways in which you can use it. For example: the first two blank pages say “use this pages to past documents and information of your school, or for free notes,” and the second set of blank pages says “use this pages to glue the class calendar.

You then get a section of blank schedules to fill out, and I love the fact that they include Saturdays and Sundays. The next section was game-changing to me because its designed for you to draw your class blueprints. I would laminate that part and use either whiteboard markers or stickers to make that section reusable, but I think it’s genius when you’re thinking about how to place your students (you know I’m all for assigned seating).

There’s a section for you to add meetings, parent conferences, and school activities, which it’s divided by months, so it comes in really handy, especially when you’re doing your yearly planning. You get some blank checklists, and there are enough for the entire year, so if you organize your to-do’s into short and long term, this will be great for you. There is more space for you to jot down ideas and projects you might have, and at the end of this first section, there’s a birthday page.

Then comes the planning section. You first get a monthly planner, which is basically like an empty calendar. Then there’s another thing that sold me on this notebook and it’s the weekly planner. I love it because you get the entire week in a single page, and that is important for me because it allows me to see the “big picture” of my classes. There’s enough space to be somewhat detailed about the planning, and that’s also important for me. This weekly planner obviously takes up a big portion of the notebook.

We then have the list section, so basically there are many blank lists waiting to be filled with grades and check-marks. I personally used to struggle with the list thing because I felt that the ones I’d downloaded didn’t have enough space for grades or assignments and so I found myself having to print new ones over and over. Here you’re covered for a long time, trust me.

Another really cool section is about the students, so for example you get lists to fill with their parents’ contact information, other data and observations. I used to work at a school where parents were super involved, so it was common to meet with them regularly, and having a chart like this one comes in super handy. Then on the flip side of the information page, there are attendance lists. I think especially for homeroom teachers it is key to check attendance. Also, if you know when a student was absent, you can help them catch up because you know the exact day.

There’s also a meeting planner, which again, comes in super handy when registering one’s interactions with parents. I think that teachers nowadays have to be extremely organized, and that also includes recording any data that might be important. In this same section, there is space to write information about students and possible meetings.

The final section has a set of lined paper to take notes on meetings, and then some pages where you can write links and other contact information. There are also some plastic pockets at the end, and other cardboard pieces to use as bookmarks or separators or whatever.

I think you get the idea of why I fell in love with my teacher notebook. In the comments below let me know the kind of organizer or planner you use at work.

Happy teaching!

November 2018 Owlcrate

November 2018 Owlcrate

Alibris: Books, Music, & Movies

Hello and happy Wednesday. Are we liking the hauls? Are we hating it? Did I become my worst nightmare only doing Owlcrate unboxings? Hopefully, that’s going to change soon. You know I’ve been going through a reading slump and that obviously means I’m not reading as many books as before, so my review supply is kind of low. I’m working on it, though. And while the slump passes, let’s just take a look at the goodies I got in the month of November.

Planter by Team Owlcrate

Because this is an exclusive item, I can’t really link a specific shop where you can get this or something similar. It’s a skull planter, which some people might find cool, but I just don’t know. I gave it to my mom and I don’t know what she’s going to do with it. I thought about maybe painting it like a catrina (sugar skull) to make it more festive, but I’ll probably forget and leave the skull forgotten somewhere. It’s not the item itself, it’s just that this might’ve been a good Halloween product but I don’t feel it makes any sense in November.

Wax Seal Kit by Team Owlcrate and Michelle Gray

Here I do have an issue with the item itself because it sort of feels like a joke. I mean, I would’ve understood if you’d included it in an Owlcrate Jr, but in an Owlcrate? Again, I don’t know what to think about this item. I knew I wasn’t going to use it so I gave it to my best friend who has a ten-year-old nephew. I think that if anything I gave them a fun activity to do together someday.

Pillowcase by Evie Bookish

I don’t have square cushions in my room, but my sister does, so I use that pillowcase in one of her cushions. A few days later, I found the pillowcase in the floor of her room (she’s messy like that) and I asked her why she’d removed it. She said, I don’t know, the quote was from Game of Thrones or something, right? The quote wasn’t from GoT but it’s from a book neither of us have read and we’re not really interested in, and that’s what she meant. The pillowcase is now folded and in the closet where we store all the bedding stuff, for a rainy day, you know?

Craft Kit from the Ann Williams Group

Now this is something that I will for sure be enjoying. I’m actually saving it for the New Years. It’s a kit for making a wish bracelet, and I think it’s just the cutest.

Sticker by Susanne Draws

This sticker has Dumbledore and Fawkes in it and I absolutely adore it. It is now in my sticker notebook until I find a permanent home. This is the kind of thing I enjoy getting, and not just because my teacher brain is obsessed with stickers, but because I think many people can get a good use of them.

Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan

Is it just me, or have the Owlcrate books become more violent with time? I know that maybe it’s just me, and I don’t feel the joy of Owlcrate that I used to. That’s why I cancelled my subscription actually. I don’t know whether I’ll be getting the December box, but after that, you won’t see any more of these unboxings, at least not for a while.

Is there any bookish subscription box that you’d recommend? Let me know in the comments.

Happy reading!

Teachers on Friday Makeup Look

Teachers on Friday Makeup Look

Kevyn Aucoin Beauty

Hello and happy Monday. Today’s look is the result of me trying to follow a tutorial and then doing my own thing because that’s way more fun. I think the original look was intended for school, but I think if you’re a student and you do my look, you’ll get in trouble. As I’m sure you know by now, I’m currently teaching high school, and I feel I could totally rock this look on a Friday just to portray how happy I am that the week is over and that I can rest for two days. Here are the steps I followed to achieve this look:

  1. Primer
  2. Foundation
  3. Concealer
  4. Powder
  5. Bronzer

  8. Black liquid eyeliner
  9. Gray eyeshadow (lower lash line)
  10. Mascara
