Sugar Bear Hair: 1 Week Update

Sugar Bear Hair: 1 Week Update

Lovely Wholesale

Hello and happy Sunday. Yes, this is your weekly update on my hair. This week I didn’t feel great changes in terms of strength because my hair did fall off quite a bit, but at the same time, and I guess judging by the picture you can see it’s getting thicker.

This picture was taken on a Friday, so that means I had five-day old hair. That means it was definitely dirty and also it had lost the wavy shape my hair usually has after I wash it.

I think because it looks kind of straight, it also gives the illusion of being longer, and the truth is after that first week I did feel that it was growing faster than it had in the previous months.

All in all, I’m really happy with where my hair is going with this vitamins, and I know that taking a dietary supplement helps my general well-being. I honestly feel energized after taking my Sugar Bear Hair, not sure if it’s placebo effect or if it really does something else, but I like having these gummies as part of my daily routine and I want to continue seeing progress.

In the comments below tell me about a problem you’ve had with your hair recently and the ways you’ve been trying to handle it.

Happy Sunday!

Announcement (4).png

Hello and happy Saturday. I promised and I’m delivering. After I finished the last Weird Messages post (which is not going to be the last in existence, just the last I’ve put together), I decided it’d be fun to go ahead and reply to all the messages I got from strangers on OK Cupid. I thought “maybe sometimes I’m being too superficial. What if one of these guys I usually ignore is actually Prince Charming?” Well, I wasn’t too convinced about that second part, but I still thought if anything it would be a fun little experiment, and you know I’m all for that.

I know for a fact that there are people who reply to every message they get because they feel it’s the right thing to do or whatever. I don’t, especially not when I know the message is copy-paste, which means it’s basically a line somebody sends to all their possible matches in the hopes that someone will fall for it. For this “experiment,” I had to leave that aside and take every message as if it had been written specifically for me, they way I think first messages should always be.

Here’s a huge spoiler for you: no, I didn’t “meet” Prince Charming, or I don’t think I’ve met him yet. I did make a discovery, or rather confirmed a theory I’d had for a while. You see, a while ago I said that maybe some of the people who send this long messages that make little sense don’t actually expect or anticipate an answer, so when they get one, they literally don’t know what to say.

Over and over, I’d reply to messages that went from “hi,” to the standard scam: “hello, my name is _________ from ___________ and I want us to be friends,” and I think in 95% of the cases I didn’t get a response, or I got one and then the conversation just died. Now, I think I’m good at keeping a conversation going, but if I’m getting nothing from the other end, I’m not even going to try.

I stopped replying to every message, of course, because I really saw no point in it, and now I’m back to being super picky. I honestly feel that, like with everything in life, a little guidance in the online dating work can get people what they want (or whom they want), and I know I’m not an expert, but if you think you need any help, then check my posts (search for the “online dating”  and “ok cupid” tags) and send me a message via the contact form .

In the comments below, tell me the kind of person you are when online dating: do you reply to every message just to be nice? Or are you selective like me?

Happy Saturday!

Copy of THROWBACK THURSDAY.pngHello and happy Thursday. If you’ve been following this blog for a while, then probably you’ll find the title and thumbnail a bit familiar. Don’t worry, Throwback Thursday is still a thing, but I have decided that the last Thursday of every month is going to be Thankful Thursday.

Here’s the part where I give you some context. For a while now, I’ve had this notebook I titled “Things That Make Me Happy.” It has only a few empty pages now, so I don’t know how much longer it’s going to last me (don’t worry, I have backup). Anyway, I write in that notebook every single day at around 6 pm about something that made me happy. When I started, I didn’t have a defined number of things, so I’d just write whatever came to mind, then I settled on five things, and finally when I started working and being busy I reduced it to one thing.

Now what I want to do is share each month five random things that made me happy. I might provide some context if I remember that specific day or event. Today I’ll share with you five things that made me happy in March of 2017. And after that super long intro, let’s get started, shall we?

March 2nd, 2017

#337: New blogging projects.

Now, you’ll see that the style in which I write these happy things down will change with time. This is how I used to record the happy things at the beginning, by keeping track of the number and everything. Don’t get used to that. Now, regarding the event itself, by then I was already contemplating the idea of getting rid of my four unsuccessful Blogger blogs, and making them one WordPress blog, which has proven very successful so far. This isn’t when I made the blog and actually started posting, but it’s like the day before, when I was sure I was going to do it.

March 6th, 2017

#357: Leftover salad for lunch.

Yes, I remember this particular salad, in the same way that I remember almost everyone and everything in my life. I had recently started going to the nutritionist, and I was really committed to sticking to the eating plan she’d designed for me. If you’re interested to know about that, check out my Journey to Healthy Living series [x] [x] [x] [x] [x]. Anyway, I was at my best friend’s house on a Sunday and we ordered to this place that sells amazing pizza and fried mozzarella and cookies, but instead of ordering any of those, I went for a salad, and because my soul is weak, I couldn’t eat the whole thing, so I took it home, put it in the fridge, and ate it for lunch the following day. Do I think I was genuinely happy about eating leftover salad for lunch? No, but I think I was proud of myself for doing it.

March 14th, 2017

#397: Not having to wear a lab coat.

Over my years working at schools, I’ve had to wear lab coats twice. Here, I’m referring to my first job at a school, in which I had to wear this Heather gray lab coat that always looked dirty. The advantage was that it had huge pockets where I used to keep all sorts of things. It could even hold a small notebook! I only had to wear it on days when students actually came to have class, so on those other days when we had meetings and stuff, I was free and didn’t have to wear the always-dirty-looking coat.

March 17th, 2017

#413: Finding out this is a three-day weekend.

Has this happened to you? Going about your life thinking you have to go to work on a Monday and then finding out that said Monday is actually a holiday? Maybe it happens more often in Colombia because we have so many holidays, but let me tell you, I’m that person who always goes “see you on Monday,” and has to be reminded by someone that, oh no, Monday is actually a holiday. I find that even more exciting than already knowing that you have one more day off way in advance, don’t you?

March 27th, 2017

#464: Advancing tons in a book.

We don’t even need the context on this one because this could make anyone happy in basically every situation ever. I’m not a fast reader, and even though I love books, I take my time with them and read about one per week or so. On top of that, reading big books is sort of intimidating for me, so I guess on this particular day I was able to read many pages from a very big and scary book and I felt proud of myself for that. Who wouldn’t, really?

Those were five things that made me happy and that I wanted to share with you for this month’s Thankful Thursday. I would love to know one thing that has made you happy today, so if you’d like to share, you can do so in the comments.

Happy Thursday!

August 2018 Owlcrate

August 2018 Owlcrate

Hello and happy Wednesday. I love hauls and I feel like being able to do hauls and unboxings in this blog is super relaxing and fun. I mean, just getting these boxes and going through the goodies is like getting presents every month. Today I’ll be sharing with you what I got in my Owlcrate during the month of August. Let’s get started, shall we?

Pocket Mirror by Catarina Book Designs

I think this is the second or third pocket mirror I’ve gotten in an Owlcrate, and I’m not mad about it. I personally hate having to take all of my stuff from one bag or purse and move it to another, so I have some basics in each one: lip balm, a tampon, and yes, a pocket mirror. I especially love the fact that this one closes and that it came with a bag, that I still use to avoid it cracking and me getting seven years of bad luck.

Gemstone Ring by GeoCentral

That is my kind of ring, and it’s honestly a type of product that I never thought I would see in an Owlcrate. I love that it’s big and chunky because I have big hands and I need people to notice my accessories. I also think that the color selection for the gemstone was spot-on because it will look great with just about anything you wear. Good job, Owlcrate.

Magnetic Bookmarks by Craftedvan

I am not particularly picky with my bookmarks, but I do tend to prefer magnetic ones because I think they’re more practical and also they’re usually cuter. I love that these bookmarks have the three Queen villains and their alter-egos because, fun fact, I love villains.

Book Tin by Stella Bookish Art

Okay, I’ve never read The Cruel Prince but I thought that quote was awesome, and the design of the tin had to be displayed, so it is now at the top of my bookshelf being pretty. Guess what I’m storing there? Yes, bookmarks.

Tea Towel by Little Inklings Design

I kind of love/hate when I get stuff for the house in my Owlcrates. I love it because I feel I can give something to my mom for her to use in the apartment, which is nice because it means I can give her an unexpected present. I hate it, though, because it means that is an item I won’t be enjoying directly and that’s pretty much the purpose of spending $30 plus shipping every month. So, yeah, it’s cute, it makes my kitchen look fancy, but there’s not much to say about it.

Grace and Fury by Tracy Banghart

This is the book of the month, which as always is a hard cover, and as per usual with Owlcrate books, it has an exclusive cover. You know that I like going into books blindly but as I was going through the spoiler card, I did read the word “feminism,” which is pretty much an indicator that I’ll like the book.

Besides the items I listed and linked, I got this card with a quote on it, and the Owlcrate pin. Which of these products are you most excited about? Let me know in the comments.

Happy reading!

Sugar Bear Hair: Before

Sugar Bear Hair: Before

Hello and happy Sunday. If you’ve been around for a while, you know this is not the first time I take Sugar Bear Hair vitamins. This is actually a product I swear by, and I’ve talked about it here and there, but now that I’m taking it again, I want to share my journey with you, just like I did with Halo Beauty.

I decided to go back to Sugar Bear Hair because after a very stressful and anxiety-filled experience, I realized my hair was falling off. That’s obviously not a good thing, and despite it having psychological rather than physiological causes, I wanted to do something extra in helping my hair become strong once again.

This is my “before” picture. I’m not sure if I shared this, but I cut my hair about two months ago and it’s way shorter than it used to be. It’s still too short for me to take the usual below-the-chin pictures of my hair, so as a bonus you get to see my tired face after my first week teaching teenagers.

I know Sugar Bear Hair also helps my nails and skin, but right now my focus is on the hair. Basically, I want my hair to be stronger and thicker, so ideally I could see it get fuller with time. I bought two bottles, which means we’re going to be doing updates for the next two months. During the first month, I’ll do weekly updates, and then I’ll do a final checkup after the two months are done. I’m not going to do before/after shots, I’m just going to show you the state of my hair at each point.

What do you recommend to keep your hair strong and healthy? Let me know in the comments.

Happy Sunday!

Wish Failed Me (Again)

Wish Failed Me (Again)

Laser Hair Removal.pngHello and happy Saturday. A couple of months ago I purchased some things on Wish and I was so excited about them I planned not one but two posts so that I could show you everything. Yes, Wish had failed me twice already, but sure that was in the past and I was going to get all the stuff I’d ordered this time, right? Wrong. I ordered a lot of stuff (you’ll find out about it in a second), and out of everything, I only got one item.

Basically, like any online store, Wish gave me an estimated time for my items to arrive. One of the items, a swimsuit , arrived before that time, so you can imagine my excitement. I actually thought all of my items would arrive sooner than I’d expected them and that was a relief because I was going to travel and didn’t want my orders to arrive while I was away.

The weeks passed and I got nothing else. I would look at the Wish website daily and notify that I hadn’t received the items yet. Over and over. Today, I checked again and when I went into costumer service, I got a message saying that the date to ask for refunds had already passed. So basically I was told that not only was I not getting my items, I wasn’t going to get my money back either.

I’m not dumb, you know? I’m not going to spend hundreds of dollars on Wish, but still, I wanted my stuff or my money back. Anyway, this is all I “bought” and won’t get.

Princess Heart Ring

Chic Lady Rings

Heart of Mind Opening Ring Heart

Women’s Fashion Two Tone

2 PC Shining Cubic Zirconia

925 Sterling Silver Ring Rose Gold

Exquisite 14K Gold Gift Ring

There’s more stuff, but I think you get the idea. Have you tried Wish before? What has your experience been like? Let me know in the comments.

Happy Saturday!

My 18th Birthday

My 18th Birthday

THROWBACK THURSDAY (2).pngHello and happy Thursday. So far, I’ve told you about my 15th birthday, which was absolutely crappy, and my 25th birthday, which was super lowkey because I spent it traveling with my mom. Well, when I turned 18, I felt like one of those stereotypical popular girls you see in shows and movies.

I turned 18 on a Friday, and that day was coincidentally a Jean’s Day, which meant I wouldn’t run the risk of wearing the wrong uniform again. I was in eleventh grade, which means I was a senior. The eleventh grade classrooms faced each other and were connected by a terrace on one side. This is relevant information, I promised.

One of my best friends was in eleventh B with me, and the other one was in eleventh A. It was common for girls to go to either classroom before the bell rang and hang out there, but when I got to my classroom, I noticed nobody was there. I went to eleventh A, and I was almost inside, when I heard squeals and whispers, and then somebody closed the door and told me to go to my classroom, which I did because I didn’t have much of a choice.

Some of my friends arrived and gave me candy, but there was still no sign of my best friends. The bell rang and everyone from my class was sitting down as always, when the door burst open and all the girls from the other classroom came in and started singing “happy birthday” to me. They were preceded by my best friend, who was carrying one of her mom’s famous chocolate cakes. I was over the moon.

At lunch time, the entire cafeteria sang happy birthday to me, and we cut the cake and gave a piece to every girl from my class, plus my sisters and some of her friends, and this girl who was turning 15 and wasn’t having the best time.

I would love to know about your own 18th birthday. Was it as special as mine was? Let me know in the comments below.

Happy Thursday!

My Paper Heart Audiobook Review

My Paper Heart Audiobook Review

Hello and happy Wednesday. Today I will be reviewing the last audiobook I listened to on the bus while going to a job I had a hard time adjusting to. Let’s just say, this feels like the end of an era and I’m kinda disappointed that the book we’re finishing up with is not the best out there. I’m talking about My Paper Heart by Magan Vernon. Let’s get started, shall we?

One thing I hate is when books reference the title, or rather quote the title. I think that’s stupid and that literally happened in this book in the first sentence. While we were just getting to know each other, the main character threw a bombshell: “My father has always been the patriarch.” What? Seriously? Talk about first impressions, huh?

Now the plot of this novel is one of the oldest clichés in the history of romance: city girl is sent away to the countryside. It was very predictable for some reason, just like this entire story, if I’m being honest. Obviously we all know what happens when the girl is sent away, right? Cue the mysterious stranger.

Something I liked and that had really nothing to do with the story itself but that I still enjoyed was the narrator’s raspy voice. It reminded me of Laura Prepon, and I wasn’t mad about it. I also thought it was cool that the chapters were short because I was listening to this on the bus and sometimes I got sleepy, so I could just listen to one more and go to sleep. I didn’t have to interrupt one or wait a long time until it was over.

The main character herself was kind of problematic to me. I mean, she acted like she was being sent to jail instead of spending some time with family. She also was super conceited and for some reason hated every woman around her, which for me was not pleasant to listen. Her thoughts about her own family members were mean. She thought her cousin’s life would change if she was given a makeover. And oh, right, spoiler alert: she ends up with her cousin’s crush.

You know I don’t like when authors include triggering topics just to make the plot more interesting. If you are sensitive to content related to eating disorders and/or assault, then please don’t read this book. Actually, even if you aren’t, find something else. This book was honestly very poorly written and edited, and the worst part is that it’s just the first in a series.

I want to know of a sexy audiobook that I can listen to now that I’ll soon go back to work and will endure even longer bus rides. Share your recommendations in the comments.

Happy reading!

Makeup Therapy

Makeup Therapy

Hello and happy Monday. I know that because I schedule my posts, you don’t actually know much of what happens in “real time” with my life. Also, today’s post is makeup related, so I don’t want to dwell too much into personal stuff; I’ll leave that for another day and another post. Anyway, I’m telling you all this because I’ve been dealing with a lot lately and today is the first day in while that I actually play with makeup. Let’s make today’s post about taking a break from drama and just doing what makes us happy for a few minutes. Here are the steps I followed to achieve the look:

  1. Primer
  2. Concealer
  3. Foundation
  4. Eyebrows
  5. Silver stick eyeshadow (eyelid base)
  6. Pearl eyeshadow (eyelid)
  7. Burgundy (outer corner)
  8. Black eyeliner (waterline)
  9. Mascara
  10. Burgundy (lower lash line)
  11. Powder
  12. Bronzer
  13. Blush
  14. Matte liquid lipstick
  15. Lipgloss

What do you like to do after you’ve had a rough time and are trying to get back on track? Let me know in the comments!
