Hello and happy Sunday. I’m pretty sure by now you know how I feel about some makeup and beauty brands, and especially their high prices, and today I have five more products to discuss. Let’s get started, shall we?
Full size: I got the full size version of the lip balm in my Ipsy glam bag.
Full price: $5.34
Buy? Yes/No? Why? This is one of those items I’d feel weird buying for myself when I know it’s just lip balm and I could get one that does the job for $1. I would, however, consider getting an assortment of these (even though I think there are only three colors at the moment), and arranging them for a present. I’d give this to a colleague, for instance.
Full size: I got a mini version of the actual eyeliner pencil.
Full price: $21
Buy? Yes/ No? Why? I’ve already talked about other Urban Decay products in this post series and you know how I feel about the brand: I like it but I hate its prices. I think paying $21 for an eyeliner is absurd, but it’s even more absurd when you’re literally getting a pencil. There’s no technology into the design that maybe justifies the price; it’s just a very expensive pencil.
Full size: The sample I got is 8 mL or 0.27 oz; the full size version is 15 mL or 0.5 oz.
Full price: $36
Buy? Yes/No? Why? I still have the sample I got and this is probably my favorite concealer at the moment. It is pretty amazing. That being said, no, I’m not paying $36 for a tube that’s only twice the size of what I have now. I would rather stick to the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind, which I swear by and costs a fraction of the Hey Honey one. It’s just not going to happen.
Full size: I got a sample size version of the highlighter and couldn’t find information on the website regarding the full size weight.
Full price: $14
Buy? Yes/No? Why? Of course, when compared to the crazy prices I’ve seen in this series I feel compelled to yell “fuck yes” at a $14 highlighter. I think that’s a very reasonable price that I’d pay. However I’m not yelling “fuck yes” because I don’t know the actual measurements of this highlighter, so I don’t know if I’m actually getting a nice amount of product for the price I’m paying. It’s a maybe for now.
Full size: I got a sample size version, which was 3 mL or 0.1 oz. I couldn’t find information of the full size version on the website.
Full price: $23
Buy? Yes/No? Why? Okay, let me get started by saying that yes, this mascara is expensive. It is not stupidly expensive, in my opinion, but it clearly is overpriced. Would I pay $23 for a mascara? I would, if I thought game-changing. Is this mascara game-changing? Absolutely not. This is a fancy version of the Push-Up collection of the Falsies by Maybelline. It even says in the description for the Tarte one “Push-Up bra for your lashes,” only the Falsies have been around for way longer, are cheaper, and work wonders.
In the comments below, tell me which product you’d buy and why.
Love, Miss Camila
