My Journey to Healthy Living: 5 Month Update

Hello and happy Sunday. I feel like it’s been a while since I last updated you on my journey towards eating healthier and establishing an exercise regime that can lead me to being more fit. The truth is, I was supposed to go to the nutritionist by mid-June and totally forgot, so ended up going early July.

Let’s add to that the fact that during the last weeks of school I was very anxious because I didn’t know if my contract was going to be renewed, and in me anxiety translates into eating a lot of what I’m not supposed to. I had no more classes, so I was actually spending my days sitting in front of a computer and eating. Killer combination, isn’t it?

But that wasn’t it because I could have at least compensated the lousy eating with a ton of exercise. Well, I stopped working out altogether because I didn’t have the energy (nah, not energy, I didn’t freaking want) to stand up on a Sunday morning and go to Zumba for an hour or two.

When I realized I’d gone back to square one in terms of my habits, I decided it was time to call my nutritionist and get on track; I had a month of vacation ahead and that meant I’d work out every day and be super strict about my eating.

Long story short, I gained one kilogram, which is about 2.5 pounds. It’s not a lot, but nobody wants to gain weight when they’re trying the opposite. My nutritionist explained to me that I’d actually gained more muscle than I’d lost fat, and muscle is good and it’s heavier than fat, so that’s why the scale showed that extra kilogram, but I’m not happy about it, even if it is pure muscle, especially because there’s still a lot of fat I need to burn.

We basically agreed that during my month of vacation I’d be super strict with my exercise and eating, also taking the supplements and vitamins she told me to, so that I can get back on track and reach my goal faster.

What is one change you’re going to make in order to reach your fitness goals? Let me know in the comments!

Happy Sunday!

Love, Miss Camila
