April (Yes, April) OwlCrate Unboxing

April (Yes, April) OwlCrate Unboxing

Hello and happy Wednesday. This is what happens when you plan your posts ahead and your mail always arrives late. You get an April OwlCrate unboxing in May, but your post is actually scheduled for late July. I still got the goodies, right? So, everything’s great. Let’s talk about each of them, shall we?

The first thing I see is an OwlCrate exclusive sneak peek of Umberland by Wendy Spinale. Now, I love sneak peeks and extended excerpts because I plan to do kind of a series where I read them and tell you whether I’m interested on reading the real deal or not. Umberland is the second book in the Everland series and from what I read is a retelling of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Alice Through the Looking Glass, which I live and die for. I’m currently into retellings, so this should be interesting.

Then we have an art print with a quote from A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Mass. Now, the print is super cute and I love the quote, and I know people are obsessed with the series this book belongs to, but I have no interest in reading it at the moment. Still, the print is now decorating the inside of my Portuguese notebook so that I’ll see it at least once a week.

I got a headband from Storiarts and it’s cute and all but 1) I don’t like Jane Austen books, so the writing in the band was a bit irrelevant to me and 2) that’s not something I wear, like ever, especially because my head is rather small. I kept it and will maybe use it when I move to the U.S and it’s winter because it covers my ears.

I also got Anna and the French Kiss inspired tea from The Tea Spot and I can’t wait to try it! Last time I got tea in an OwlCrate box it was absolutely fantastic, and so I’m super excited for this one. I drink tea on a daily basis, so this item was perfect for me. Update: I tried the tea. It’s good, nothing out of this world, but alright. You can definitely feel the chocolaty taste, but it’s a tiny bit bitter for me. I love my tea sweet as can be.

Okay, now I gave away the next two goodies. I gave my sister the Park & Eleanor vanilla-scented candle by Novelly Yours because I don’t light candles and I don’t like the vanilla fragrance. She loved it though, so thanks. The key chain with the quote from Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda, made by Bookworm Boutique, reminds me a whole lot of my best friend, so obviously, she’s going to get it. I personally do this with things I either don’t like or know someone else will enjoy: I give them away and keep the things I truly love.

Now, let’s talk about the book. I don’t know for how long has The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli been in my wish list and I’m absolutely ecstatic to have gotten it in my April OwlCrate. This is the first book I’ve gotten in an OwlCrate that was actually in my wish list, and my expectations are super high. Now, with the book I got the signed plate, a sticker, and a letter by the author. I usually throw the letters away without reading them (sorry not sorry) but I read this one and I’m glad I did because I thought it was the sweetest and it made me cry a bit.

Finally, I got the OwlCrate pin, April’s card, and a sneak peek to May’s box, which has Comic Explosion for theme. I haven’t gotten mine yet, but I’ll post about it as soon as I do.

Now tell me, which has been your favorite OwlCrate box and why?

Happy reading!

Love, Miss Camila

Ps: Here are my February + March unboxings, in case you want to check them out.
